Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Just got home a half hour ago from Pewaukee Lake and lesson one with Professor Koepp. While dragging suckers, we Suicked, Jaked, Shallow Invadered, Lip Rippered, Slammered, and Slop Mastered for about three and a half hours with one follow for Mike. I then Top Raidered for about an hour, and we were thinking about calling it quits. I decided I wanted to Hawg Wobble a little before quitting as it was calm and beautiful. Mike agreed. He then put my Top Raider on his stick, and we started our final casting for the evening. On about his fifth cast with the Top Raider, bang, he's got a long girl thrashing in the starlight. I managed not to panic too much, and basically stayed out his way until the fish was in the net. I held the net and light while he performed the hook removal, while about five pounds of little bugs attracted by the light coated his head. Within a minute or two she was out of the net, measured ( I got a little of that yummy slime on me and my Top Raider has a tooth mark), skillfully photographed by me, and gently released back into her watery domain. 46 1/2 inches of glorious musky. I must mention that the Professor offered the stick to his pupil (me) after the intial strike. I declined as the plan calls for its first fish to be personally hooked and subdued by its originator. I had a great time and learned a lot. Very cool to see, or not see considering the darkness, a true professional ply his craft. The ease with which he released the fish is mind boggling to someone with as little experience as I have. Please refer to the Pewaukee Lake fishing report to view Mike's catch, well illustrated I might add, by my excellent photography. If any of you have ever considered hiring Professor Koepp, especially if you're a beginner like me, I highly suggest you do so. He is a great guy, and a tremendous teacher. Thanks Mike, next Tuesday, you get to take the picture. Kevin Topwater by starlight has me all aquiver, and is now a major component of what I feel is becoming a well executed plan.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Hang in there Kev, you're getting closer. At least you got to smell the slime. Koepp is a great stick. I've taught him everything I know, and then some, so you're in good hands. You're time is near my friend. Great story!

Posts: 617 Location: Clintonville, WI | As Hannibal Smith always said to Murdock, Face and B.A......"I love it when a plan comes together." In your case, Hopeful, coming together, but it is nonetheless. Keep unveiling the plan as it comes to fruition. Because as Judge Smails (sp?) once said, "Well.....we're waaiiiting!"

| Kevin, you need to experience the moment like that before you enjoy it on your own. You have been fishing with some great sticks so it is just a matter of time. Steve | |||

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | The pleasure was all mine Kevin. I would have loved to see you accept the fish after the hook set because it was so far from the boat and you could have finished the catch. It was good to see you handle the fish for me as I netted her. One thing I forgot to mention to you is "once the fish comes to the boat it usually goes nuts and the best part of the fight happens at the boat". That is why I asked you to hold the rod so I could net her. You felt the power, got the heart beatting and the legs were shacking some I am sure. Tuesday "the plan" will come together.
