Despite a rather low turnout (me), the fish cooperated for a couple of hours...

Took a short trip up to Pineview this evening for about 2 1/2 hours and was rewarded w/ a couple of 40 inchers for my troubles. My first decent fish of the year and they came w/in about 20 minutes of each other. Had one more of a similar size roll lazily on my bait but didn't hook up. All fell to a Violent Strike spinnerbait. I hope these pics turn out ok, it's a new camera and I'm having a bit of a time getting the aiming and timer thing right.

Hey sorno, nice fish!!!

Hey NMTiger....how are those tigers doing in NM that the state has been planting for a few years now. Any reports there? My mom, also in Albuquerque (Alpine Sausage Kitchen) keeps sending me articles about them trying to lure me to move out there.

They are going strong in the two lakes they were stocked in. I've caught a couple 40 inch class fish and some hammer handles here and there to help me through the slow times. I helped the Game and Fish Dept. stock several thousand fry and fingerlings 3 or 4 weeks ago, so both lakes have been stocked 3 times each now.

Sounds like you've got a really cool mom!

Sorno, those are beautiful fish! Looks likea cover shot to me.

NM, I went to High School in Los Lunas, lived in Bosque Farms. My family had a place with enough room for a horse, a few chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, and whatever else my mother used to drag home for me to feed and clean up after out back. I used to ride the horse on the ditch banks to the 7-11 store for my Bull Durham and papers. That was a while ago.... I went to the old High School that was about falling down. Before that, El Rito and Las Vegas. My Granddad owned the Navaho Lodge Hotel in Las Vegas, and was a registrar for UNM on a small campus in El Rito. If I had known there would be muskies in New Mexico..

When I worked at Frabill we would try to sponsor outings like this with some door prizes. I am no longer employed at Frabill but looked around the house and found a nice prize. A relatively new copy of "Fly Fishing for Pike" and will send it to you in tomorrow's mail.

You can choose if you want the prize to go to the guy who caught tha first fish, the most fish, or the guy with the most inches.

Nice pictures Sorno! Another great day on the water in the shadow of some beautiful scenery! If anyone has a chance, get out there and check out his fishery. You are surrounded with mountains in this resevoir and the fishing,,, well the pictures from Sorno say it all!

I find the idea of landing one of those babies surrounded by mountains very appealing.

Very cool stuff, Sorno.

I am ever amazed at the beauty of those fish out there! Keep on posting pics of those tigers, and I will be forced to come out there!

And isn't that just typical of Mark Gostisha? Still giving, and he doesn't even work for Frabil any more. Thanks for all you have done, and continue to do, Mark!
