I'm sure they would make quite a commotion on top of the water. The only problem is the rabies risk and many bats are protected.

My dad used a bat for muskies. It looked like a minature baseball bat, maybe a foot long, and was weighted with lead, not cork. I don't think it had Louisville Slugger burned into it.

I think you are confusing the story of Batman and Robin and thier fishing trip with Mr. Jonesi on Mille Lacs last year. " I can't believe I was fishing muskies with a Bat!" Steve exclaimed after the trip.
"The accessories those guys carry ARE neat though; we were able to CPR the fish we caught using really cool release tools" he said. " It was difficult to get a read on Batman, though. No facial expression because of the mask and all, and all he did was grunt, mostly."

Cheap bait for me. Tilt the old Belfry to the side, hop up and down, and there you go. Unfortunately this also releases some guano, and I prefer that stay in the Belfry. Then I can release it on this board in small doses.

Bats in the Belfry and the silver spoon, the little boy grew to the man in the moon.

We used to catch bats as kids by standing at the end of the dock at dusk with a fly line and mosquito pattern held just above the water's surface......

I am not sure how often it happens, but last fall I was on my favorite body of water at sunset and there were bats flying down to the surface and picking what I assume were mosquitoes from the surface of the water when a very large musky came right out of the water not 30ft from the boat and engulfed a bat as it swooped in. I have been comptemplating how to take advantage of this pattern ever since.

I saw two guys in a Batman and Robin costume fishing on a metro lake late one fall. I asked them how they were doing and Batman said, "I can't tell ya, we're fishing in a tournament." Superheros are people too I guess.
