| Does anyone fish frogs for muskies? I see suckers used a bunch, so it makes sense frogs in a kwik strike should be effective. Bullfrogs are big enough, and the lateral line punch form a frog hopping around in the water should cause explosive strikes from unpressured fish. Course, if the fish are pressured, maybe a leopard frog with a single treble in the lip is appropriate until there's enough negative experience to change to tree frogs, mebbe.
What do you think? Are frogs normal prey? |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Loosecannon- You may want to be cautious about using frogs, i.e., they are protected by species in most states.
This is why a frog colored creeper or artificle frogs are also an good option.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Some areas have a season on bullfrogs, but I don't think they are legal as bait anymore. I used to buy frogs at a place in N Wisconsin to throw in the muskie ponds, the muskies there ate them real well. Pecks Wildwood, or something like that. |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | A few years ago I was fishing up on Tenderfoot lake and noticed these huge tadpoles swimming through the water...about a foot or 2 below the surface. So I decided to look around for baits that had a frog or tad pole pattern...I've found very little. I asked Jim Scheaffer a couple of years ago to custom paint an Undertaker for me....Tenderfoot Tad Pole. I've done pretty well with this thing....I wish bait painters would come up with a more realistic frog and/or tad pole pattern.
If there's something I'm missing, please let me know....I'd love to see some new patterns.

Location: Williamstown, WV | I'll post a pic tonight of a Storm soft plastic bait that looks exactly like a giant tadpole. It's not on there website but I bought a whole bunch of them at Cabela's in Wheeling, WV. I've never seen them before.

| I saw a pike inhale a huge bullfrog many years ago. It was an awesome strike, and the bullfrog never knew what hit it.

| I read in the last musky hunter magazine than the new Vermont state record,(last fall approx. 52"x23"- 38lbs) was caught on a frog at boatside in a small river than flows into lake Champlain! |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | We carry those things this year as well as the other new Storm stuff...pretty cool really, but I thought it was a Mud Puppy bait...but no matter, it does resemble a salamander or tad pole enough to fool a musky. |

Location: Waukesha, WI. | I cought my biggest musky on a frog lure that I make. I know that I am one of the few that know how much muskys like to eat frogs. Here is one of them.

| I fed a muskie for three summers, years ago, off my dock. Ended up feeding a couple of pike and large mouth bass also. The pike and bass readily ate the frogs I threw them. The muskie would strike at the frogs, but would spit them out. All ate minnows. The muskie wanted live ones. the pike would eat very dead ones along with live ones. |

I've never seen those baits before...I just had to get some. Yeah they do resemble a mudpuppy. or a gigantic tadpole, lol. What other baits does storm have (i know the swimbaits). Anything else that is different.

Location: north central wisconsin | Ev makes some awesome creepers!! They performed quite well last year for us. Ryan Jinkerson is also making a cool frog type creeper, pictured here. It is the same as his old style, but instead of spreaders, it has legs that move.

Location: Kinkaid Lake, IL | I nailed a 45.5 on a hi-fin twin teaser tail Wensday night. It was a bullfrog pattern and she went for it with no hesitation. I found where some frogs were croaking and worked that area. I am a big fan of "frog" patterns and styles. I remember going to Camp Fish in Minnesota when I was a kid and the guides always hooked up a leopard frog to drag behind the boat. They would come back with no legs all the time. Ü |

Location: Rhinelander. | When I owned pfeiffer tackle I made a soft plastic frog for muskies and it worked well. Was totally weedless and my prostaff did well with it it just never caught on. I have kept a few for myself and still use on certain lakes.
