Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Slamr, sworrall, lambeau, or whoever is in charge here.... Was doin some pondering while I should have been studying or doing something academic and was thinking it might be nice to have a forum for guys to post who are headed out fishing and are looking for a partner or a boat to jump into. Might be a nice thing for guys that end up fishing alone a lot to have someone to split gas costs with the high gas prices, and could help guys who dont have rigs of their own to get out all time to have somewhere to go to see if anyone is looking for a partner. Just an idea I had. Mike

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Mike, Great idea, I don't have admistrative access or I would create it. But I suspect Steve and Slamr can make it happen for the future. You can print my post and take it to whoever the Professor is for the class you bugged out on and tell them the MuskieFIRST group gives you an "A" for creative thinking... ![]()

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Steve, I think he was thinking more of a "Got a boat/Need a boat" forum. We've got one on our site: http://www.twincitiesmuskiesinc.org/msg/

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Yes I was going for what Muskie Treats is saying. I know that it could be done in the general discussion but i think some posts could get lost in the general discusions. If there was a forum for it then people could go straight there and find a ride/offer a ride. Mike

Posts: 5874 | That's how Gregger and I met. It was love at first sight! hehehe Way back when MF was just a kid of about 3 months old, I was heading up to Hayward, and posted I had an empty seat. He posted back, and we hooked up the next morning. Put 3 in the boat that day. Still laugh at his limp-wristed hook set on the 34! Ha!! Now he's way up in the MN northwoods, and getting married! Spent lots of great days in the boat with peeps through the General Forum, including KLY, Cady, Jackley, Jason Smith, Muskyboy, The Dude, JLR, The Extreme One, Tuff Daddy, Theedz, mikie and John, Treats, Jomusky, and others that I may have forgotten about. Sorry if you were not mentioned. I'm sure it's just oldtimers kicking in.

Posts: 2024 | Mike, Are you getting your degree in Muskie Message Board Management? I wish they had a program like that here at the U of I. Steve and Slamr better watch out! Someone's lookin to throw a coup! I like the idea. What I like about it is it would allow people to connect with others as new fishing partners, or if you're just looking to take someone new out.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | I would volunteer to moderate the new forum if that is a concern? No Sean no message board management classes, I think I just spend way too much time on them! Not that its a bad thing....I love this site! Mike

Posts: 223 Location: minneapolis | Oh.................. The stories I could tell about the Hook-up's I've had from the MuskieFirst message board!!! ![]() Seriously tho-- My first Hook-up was also with Greg M who was kind enough ( or shall I say Brave enough ? ) to invite me up north to fish out of his boat. We were on the lake less than 15 minutes and I was on my knees- netting his muskie!! Since then I have met SO many great guys from this board that have been fantastic about giving me a shot in their boat!! ![]() Looking forward to more opportunities this season !! ![]()

SO many great guys from this board that have been fantastic about giving me a shot in their boat! Is it a bit warm in here? I need to turn the air conditioning on. hehehe

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Nice thing about OutdoorFIRST sites. You can make as much or as little out of them you would like, provided it stays within the "family/professional" conduct guidelines. Like Shep, who I met on the board way back when.... Geez Shep it's been a few years hasn't it. It's like stated previously, many people have formed lasting friendships though the site. And many have been able to really cut the learning curve time down for new anglers looking for information on tackle, presentation, boat control, product help, etc. etc. For now, the sticky thread at the top of the General Discussion Board will serve as a weekly place for anlgers to contact each other about getting together for an outing. We'll see where it goes from there. As I stated in that post, I'll put up a new post for each upcoming week on Monday mornings. Use it as you will, hope it helps.

Posts: 5874 | Mark was one of my oldtimers forgots. Yup, Mark. It has been a few. Mark posted he was on his way to his folks house, after a meeting near Wakesha, and was looking to get out on Pewaukee, and visit Smokey's. I told him I'd be there around 5PM. We fished for maybe 45 minutes, and got chased off the lake by a major electrical storm! A couple beers later at Curly's, we forgot all about that storm. That was with the old Tuffy, wasn't it Mark?

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Good memory Shep... Yes, your old Tuffy. The beer was cold though, even though it stormed. Fun time.
