Does anyone have an opinion on, or have experience with, Grumman boats? Found one on eBay the other day...didn't realize they made boats.

I had one. Small one, 1992 14' with a 1998 Merc 25. The boat was good for what it was. I fished out of it for 3 or 4 years before upgrading. It ran 32 mph on locator speed (not GPS) with the 25 but the ride could be wet on occasion. Mine was all aluminum including deck, floor and storage compartments. The only real problem I had with mine was that it was very light and rode high on the water. Was a nightmare to try to control in the wind. Of course, the light weight was the reason I could go almost 2 full days with a single recharge on 1 12v battery. All in all, it was an OK boat and in lasted quite well.

I think Lowe bought out the rights to manufacture Grumman's designs. Grumman was also a factory partner for Evinrude at one point if I remember right.

I actually had more problems with that motor that I did with the boat.

Hope this helps.

Scott
