Location: Green Bay, WI | Thanks guys. Alex, I think it probably could be ported to the iPod. My guess is that it would have to be written in C or C++. I could write it in C, but I don't know the Mac structure well enough to develop a "visual" application for the iPod yet. But by the end of the weekend the iPaq version (Windows CE, PowerPC, etc.) will be done. The calculator is done now, but I am working on a splash screen for it. Do you know any Mac programming? There are quite happy to have people develop for their OS...I just have never developed for Mac OS. TB

Location: Green Bay, WI | Hmmm... I just tried it again and it worked fine. OK, try it again, but make sure that you: 1) Click the link and select SAVE, then save it to your desktop. 2) After it's on the desktop, RIGHT click on the zipped file and select "extract" or "unzip" and extract/unzip it onto your desktop. 3) Open the resulting folder (on your desktop) named "Muskellunge Weight Estimator" and then click on the little icon to open the application. 4) Plug & Chug. My suspicion is that you maybe tried to run it from the zipped folder and your OS didn't handle it correctly? That's why you have to extract/unzip it first. If you still have problems please advise. Thanks for trying it though... TB

Location: Green Bay, WI | I am not sure about developing for the Palm operating system. I will have to look into that, as they have their own OS. In other words, you can't simply port the Pocket PC version (Windows-based) to the Palm Pilot. It would be cool if I *could* do it though as the Palm machines can be had for $50-100 where the Pocket PC units are much pricier... I will look into it and get back to you here. EDIT: I just downloaded the Palm OS Software Development Kit from their website. I will have a look at it tonight as see what it might take to port this to the Palm OS. Much of their stuff is written in C, which I know a little. So who knows...stay tuned. TB Edited by tcbetka 3/27/2006 4:17 PM

Location: Green Bay, WI | Well, I tell you what--the Palm OS platform is pretty complicated compared with developing Windows-based applications. I know some C programming, but Palm uses a modified form due to the fact that several libraries are needed with the standard C apps; new APIs, new functions...ei yi yi. I don't know how long it will take me to develop this calculator in the Palm environment. It will take learning a new language in a way, as well as learning their development environment. Ever think of buying an iPaq...? LOL. TB Edited by tcbetka 3/27/2006 10:09 PM
