Wisconsin's North Woods have alot more snow than Minnesota's North Woods....alot more.
I measured about 21" of ice up by me in Land O Lakes. Warm temps and alot of sun this weekend along with mild temps and some rain should put a dent in the snow/ice.

Spring is coming....but slow.

MAUSER and I fished 42* river water yesterday in a drizzle.
Didn't catch anything but dang, it still looked better than that!
That clear, green water was perfect for getting better aquainted with my new HawgSeeker baits. I think I've got the Belly Dancer figured out, now. CJ's Doetail bucks are absolutely awesome in that clear water, wish I'd grabbed another handfull of them before he started selling them. m

We dont have the snow and ice here in Northwest IN < haven't had any ice to fish on since new yrs > but nearly froze my arse off yesterday with those north winds. Took the boat out on a shakedown cruise, got halfway to the lake when i realized i forgot my new graph at home GRrrrr. Accidently woke the wife up trying to get the graph out of the closet , got back to the point where i first turned around to go back home when i remembered that i didn't take the carharts. Double #*^@, the lake i went to is just south of Lake Michigan so there was nothing to block that cold wind coming straight down the big lake. Well at least i didn't have any trouble with the boat , it ran just fine. Tossed a few new lures and got the feel for they're respective actions , no hits tho. At least i did get out of the house and on the water to cure some cabin fever. Hope others had some luck this past weekend.

Here in southern michigan, we never really had an ice fishing season. My boys have been out on our lake crappie fishing from the canoe for two weeks now. They are having a hard time catching crappie because of the bass and pike. They have caught 6 bass 5lbs or better, and a 36" and 35" pike.
I had to tell them to lay off for a while and let the fish spawn. Even though they are crappie fishing, they are just catching too many bass. What a problem to have

Pete , what about Pebbles , she should be a pretty full size girl by now. LOL
My buddy has had a few follows and/or hits out there, but i've only chucked 2 x 4s a few times myself on that lake,

Temps are going to be close to the same up in northern Wisconsin as they are down here in southern....awsome. Bring on the melting...there's alot of snow and ice and I don't want to be tip up fishing May 6th. Right now in Land O Lakes its 50º, here in Menomonee Falls, its 45º.
