| A good friend of mine, who was helping me fill up reels had a great suggestion for the muskie world. He does not fish, so he has a bit of commonsense to him...I explained the idea of having a full spool to help with line taken...He suggested a fatter spool which would hold less line and still give the same surface area to taken in line. I am sure the muskie market is too small but still a good idea non the less...Ben | |||

I would think someone in the plastics business could design something similar for the more popular reels today. Not a huge market, but who knows?

Posts: 1270 | The Abu-Garcia Record RCN60HC does this very thing!

| It would seem that the HC does the opposite of what I am speaking of. It holds more line, I am thinking of a spool that is fatter in the middle so it holds less line, but still provides the large surface area...Ben | |||

Posts: 1270 | My bad! I should have said RCN60 without the HC.

Posts: 714 Location: Rhinelander, WI | Ben you are correct the HC stands for high capacity. The regular Record the RCN60 comes with a High Speed whiffle spool. This spool is exactly what you are talking about larger diameter and it holds less line as a result. 145yard of 14lb vs 245yards of 14lb on the HC model. A 6500C3 also holds 245 yards of 14 lb. Now the HC model is the only model that comes with the power handle. I want the Power handle and the low capacity spool. I don’t know if you can interchange the spool. Chuck are you out there? Posts: 8856 | This may be a question that's already been answered somewhere... Where do you get a power handle, and are they universal to all ABU reels? I looked at the "grator grip" that Rollies sells, is that what's considered a "power handle"?
