Looking for opinions!!!

I am purchasing a new Crestliner 1850 FishHawk this spring and have only to decide how to rig it in terms of electronics. I want to solicit opinions from all fellow hunters as to how you think a muskie stalking boat should be rigged.

I have all but decided on a Lowrance X-15MT at the helm and a Lowrance X-85 at the bow. I also like the features of the MinnKota Genesis trolling motor. I need help with what else I just couldn't live without. I plan on a VHF but I guess I want to know what else I should think about adding.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Kevin

I have the same boat, for everything else besides electronics, this is what i have on mine. Its set up for ski's really nice and for the occassional walleye trip, either pre musky season or in way up in Canada where ski's don't roam.
-Wave wackers
-aerator/timers and live well lights
-anchormate II on bow, starboard
-anchormate III on stern, inside the panel on starboard side, didn't have to cut out the wackers that way.
-added an extra seat receiver between the driver and front port passenger, to allow the middle person to swing sideways when drifting with 3 in the boat. It will fit above the gas tank.
-My trolling motor is also set up to store along the gunnel on the starboard, this leaves the entire port side open for the front angler when drifting.
-swivel switch lights, 2 under the gunnel shining down above rod locker, 1 on panel on post side shing on back casting deck, 1 by rear live well switch shing forward on floor. These are wired to the battery, not the switch, less wire needed and don't need the key on.There is a white light on the back of the front running lights post that light up the front deck pretty well.

Hope this helps, enjoy the boat!!!

Greg,
I just ordered the 1850 Muskie Edition, and was wondering if the 54" shaft on the bow mount does the job for you?
I just went ahead and ordered the 60" shaft.
Could I have gotten away with the 54", or does it "pop" out of the water in rough conditions?
Thanks,

Waterwolf:

A new boat? I loved what you were fishing out of last year (thanks again for the trip to Sugar). This winter I finally got something that floats. My dad had a 14 foot Lund with an 8 hp Yamaha that he had sitting on a trailer and I was able to talk him out of it. Not as fancy as your new rig, but at least it will get me on the water without begging folks for a ride.

Bill

P.S. How's your winter been?

Water wolf, I upgraded to the 1850 mid Sept. Although I put many hours on her before the season closed, I didn't get a chance to try the trolling motor in really bad weather. I did a lot of trolling. In the moderate chop that I was in, the 54" did fine and I had more shaft to use yet if it got worse. I had a 60" shaft on the 1650 FH that got traded and was happy to see it go, it was obnoxiosly long, never had the need for it. Most of the problem was the release thouigh, what a bugger to deploy that thing. The new one deploys like a charm. It was a big pain too when getting shallow , my rod was always hitting it cuz it stuck up too far. (geez I hope the moderators don't zap this for questionable content).I saw a thread once in walleye central about this debate. The ending agreements were to start long, if it doesn't work for you then you can give it the "bobbit" treatment.[] [] Good luck with the Muskie Edition you lucky bugger !!!
