Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | There are 6 threads that mention a bait name in the last 60 threads. Obviously, a lure has to be part of the muskie fishing equasion, so that's inevitable. A story of a big fish is no different from any story in that to tell it well, there needs to be the 5 Ws and an H. Who, what, where, when, how, and why. If a story leads with a big fish and answers the 'what was it caught on' question right away, it relieves a ton of anxiety for many anglers.
We actually encourage muskie bait builders to talk about the lures they build, and even placed a forum onsite for the 'basement' builders out there. The bigger companies don't say much here, in fact most say nothing at all because their lures are in enough hands that the anglers speak for them.
Letting folks know about a lure that is regional in popularity or is 'new' is news and information related more than advertising related. If a post IS a direct advertisement, it doesn't last long. We do see that now and again, where the same IP is attached to 'several' ( really just one guy using several anon handles) users carying on a conversation about a product. That's actually pretty funny, because to admin it's really obvious. Not the Case with Hawg Teaser and the big Cave Run fish. |
