Sorry. A good lightweight clearcoat for use on plastic baits like jakes and DDD's over createx water based paint. I've been advised to use automotive sealer and some apparently hard-to-find brands, and I'm wondering what people here use. I do not want to use a heavy product like envirotex. I would most like to use something in a spray can if possible so I can keep my airbrush work limited to water-based products. Createx makes a water-based gloss clearcoat to which you can add a catalyst. Has anyone tried that? I'd be concerned about durability. Thanks for the help.

Envirotex comes in a spray can.
I use it for walleye and bass baits.
If you have E-Tex, you can thin it with alcohol....not rubbing alcohol......and spray it or brush it on.
Whatever you choose, test it on a seperate object to make sure that the paint and clearcoat are compatable.
Compatability is the most important feature when choosing a top coat.
Ask me how I know

I have to say I like Jed's idea best. Nice and easy. I'll give that a shot and if it isn't tough enough I'll try your suggestion, Beaver. Thanks for the help, guys.

Beaver,

How thick does the spray-on etex go on? And what kind of alcohol should I be using to thin regular etex? Everclear?
