Posts: 4266 | Guess I'll have to change the name or something.........or not. Met with a friend yesterday who is a carpenter, and we actually put some chalk on the garage floor and walls, and as soon as he finishes up the house he's doing, he's going to put in a 10x10x10 heated, ventilated, dehumidified, insulated humidor of a room for me to paint lures in. I can't wait. This way I can get lots of work done before my daughter gets out of school and have plenty of lures ready for the northern opener. I've been working on blanks as much as I can, and will have over 100 of a new small version of the Perka ready for spring, (picture a 7" perch in your hands, and you've got it). Then I'll start doing the regular Perkas and do the Swimming Tail Perkas last. I can't wait to put some paint on some wood. But first of all I'm going to sit down and fire up a nice Cuban to baptize the place. Also, I must thank my friends at Snowcrest lures for turning out some awesome bodies for the new Big Turd that I'm going to make a limited number of. I've got 20 blanks, but will make more now that I'm done with testing. I had him leave the front face flat and actually weighted it so it plows through the water with it's face and pushes a wall of water while the flaptail portion kicks out in different directions using a new way of doing it, so the head plows forward while the butt moves as the blade kicks out. They are also bigger than a normal flaptail, so I can use bigger hooks without them tangling and increase the hooking percentages. I like what I see in this forum, and can't wait to finally get to work on laying down some colors. It appears that there is a lot of hidden talent producing some great looking lures out there, and thanks to Sworrall for giving us a place to display them. I plan on selling some of my stuff through the muskiefirst store so I can repay them for all the free advertising that they have afforded us. Besides, I think that Steve already called dibs on one of the new turds. See you soon. Beav

Posts: 4266 | Better news. Carpenter will be here at 7AM tomorrow. Said even with a useless SOB like me helping, we can knock it out in a day. I can almost smell the thinner already. Beav

Posts: 4266 | The rafters and studs are in place. I'll be putting up lots of insulation this week. Throw up a couple of walls, and then wait for my buddy to return for the ventilation and lighting installation. Might even throw in a fold-down bed. One step closer to year-round production. Beav

Posts: 4266 | Just putting up insulation and vapor barrier where it's easy to get to. Was supposed to be out there with the carpenter today, but had to take a sick kid to the doctor. I guess a little progress is better than none. So I spent some time putting in screw eyes. Talk about a time consuming task. Centering, drilling putting in the screw eyes. Lots of time for what seems like it would be a pretty easy part of the process. I'll be back at it tomorrow. Beav

Ceiling, some walls, some insulation done today, and of course my expertise....demolition. I'm much better at breakin' stuff than fixin' it. Going to be some electrical issues to deal with, but steady progress is being made. Supposed to have crappy cold weater coming, so I think we won't hit it again for a week or so. I'll try to get some pics up. Beav
