We stayed on a houseboat out in Thompson Creek in Miles Bay. Fishing was pretty darn good. Limits of walleyes everyday and muskies everywhere. The odd thing is all the muskies were cookie cutter, like 36-42 inches, nothing bigger or smaller, but lots of numbers and mass follows too. Every time a front or any cloud cover came through, it was like someone turned the lights on. Fishing would be on one minute, and then dead for 2 hours. We had fish on big spinnerbaits, Mantas, jerkbaits, and the drive by maulings on smallmouth and walleye were more than I had ever seen before. When my arms would get sore from casting, I would switch over to fishing a Team Daiwa Vibrations for walleye and smallmouth..................ya, big mistake too. I got 4 muskies, and one that was a bit nicer than the rest, but on 10lb test I lasted about as long as a virgin boy on prom night. As a side note, we rented a houseboat from Canada North houseboat rentals, and we never will ever again. We were constantly referred to as " You people " and they tacked on two rental boats to our houseboat and said that was what we asked for. Keep in mind we all brought our own boats as we have in the past. I found out from other operators in the area ; that they have done this before. So be aware and do not rent from them. Oh and we had full cavity searches on the way into Canada as well. Talk about fun. They have got to be kidding as those border agents are killing their own economy. There are other ways to do things, but oh well.

They went through every single compartment in my boat. They checked out my topwater plugs and shook them like they were cavemen. The chick at the border ( major hottie ) opened up my livewell, stuck her head inside, and really regretted that one as well. The looked at my box of spinnerbaits and started taking them out, until one of them got hooked. They asked what was in the Pennzoil jug............you know, the yellow one that says - oil. So I told them it was exactly what it says, oil. I use to cross the border every single day, twice a day in B.C. and it was like night and day compared to these guys. We crossed at International Falls. We will cross at Baudette from now on. Oh, and one of the guys in our group, he is disabled, can barely walk, lost the use of his right arm. He had a stroke 4 years ago. But he also had a D.U.I. quite a few years back. So as you can guess, yes we were given the privelege of paying a $200 bribe to allow him into the border, since he is such a risk to society. Keep in mind he does not even posess a drivers license or has the ability to operate anything. I am thinking of keeping our money in the states now. We hear Minnesota has excellent muskie fishing as does Wisconsin.

"They took my topwater plugs and shook them like cavemen"!!! Them border patrols are something else! Love it man, harrasing the handicapped to get in. You must have been real suspicious looking going to canada with a boat and fishing equipment.

they asked me if I had any jackpot topwaters too,,,I said NO!!!! ,,,they then said "we may have to conduct a strip search will that produce anything"???? I said 'no walk the dogs but you will find a tallywacker"!!!,,,,
actually I got thrown in a room for twenty minutes and interogated at the border only for cutting the corner of my driving license just so it would fit in my walet,,, Why all the paranoia Is there ANYTHING worth blowing up in Canada I wont go to Canada this year Im staying in my home of Minn where the fishing is better anyway

Hooker,
I am going to have to come up with new "spot". I was thinking a mag treat would do the job, if I could get that guy that makes them to quit spawning and start making baits! MN for me all year too!

I'll be making some baits soon. I've got the itch again.

And as far as spawning goes, as of July 26th it will be impossible. I'm going to be a metro muskie, go through the motions without the success

Just got back and I did't have that problem. Actually I smuggled an abandoned dog across the border. They had no clue.

What kind of dog? Treats and I had a friend for the week last year, looked like lab/rottweiller mix that hung out the RABC phone booth just north of Baystore Camp. That dog loved beef jerky and leftover sandwiches!
