I'm looking for some input in regards to chargers. Does a weekend warrior need a 45 amp/3 bank? Or can I get away comfortably with a 2 bank/ 10 - 20 amp. Is there a company that makes a "bulletproof" model, or are they all built about the same?

I'll be running 3 batteries. a 24v troller, and 2 fish finders off of the cranking battery.

There are allot of choices out there and am looking for any info that will speed up the process, Thanks, Jason

Two companies come to mind: Dual Pro and Guest.

You will get opinions on each...both are good, require little room to install, and are very reliable.

for a weekend warrior, you could probably get away with the 2 bank, 10 amps each bank. Set it up so you can charge your TM batteries. The starting battery will be just fine with the outboard, and fishfinders will not drain your system fast enough to the point that the battery will not start your outboard.

I would go with either of the products mentioned, but I would go with the biggest and best you can afford.

If you can afford to get the big 3 bank charger, then do it. Less worries in my opinion.

Got a Dual Pro 3 bank and may never use another brand. Extremely reliable, and their customer service rocks.

if you buy a 3 bank you dont have to use all three hookups correct ..in otherowrds i have a 12v system sometimes i run 1 battery plus my starting battery. for my trolling motor and somtimes i add a extra in parrellel for extended use. so i would simply not hook up the third one?? yes? no? maybe?

Even if you have two batteries in parallel, you can hook up that third lead without issue. If you don't, you would want to make sure you isolate those tag ends so they do not touch or even have the chance to arc....fire waiting to happen....

If they are hooked in parallel you can do it with one bank, but it will take twice as long to charge. If you get/have a 3 bank charger, hook up one bank to each battery. No sense letting a bank sit and not get used. Being in parallel will not affect the two banks on the charger or the individual batteries...you can hook up both without worry of over-charging or sending it 24 volts, and you don't have to unhook your jumpers.

Bank 1 to battery 1
Bank 2 to battery 2
Bank 3 to starting battery
