| I am sure you guys have discussed this on here countless times, so i apologize if this is has been covered recently.
Which line do you prefer and why? I am looking for something that casts well, low backlash, and strong (i know ... these are the characteristics in all of their advertising). I plan to spool up an Ambassadeur reel (55/5600 size ... C3, C4, and/or Record).
Lines I am considering:
- Tuff line
- Tuff line XP
- Powerpro
- Spiderwire Stealth
- Cortland Spectron |

| If you've never tried it-spiderwire stealth-80lb, try it once, then fish with the "other"stuff. I used to use berkley whiplash, that stuff was indestructable and smooth. then they quit making it. stealth is pretty much the nuts and bolts of whiplash. |

| it does come down to personal preference and your needs.
i've used all the lines you listed to varying degrees and here's my experiences.
when i started muskie fishing i used Cortland dacron lines. at that time i liked them because they offered a good combination of being strong yet also having a relatively larger diameter, which gave the benefit of fewer backlashes, and the ones i did get were easier to pick out. the downside was less line on the spool, reduced casting distance, and it held a lot of water (esp. noticable in the fall when it's cold).
i tried Tufline and found it to be strong and held less water, but i wasn't a big fan of the "threads" that seemed to come off of it a lot. my experience was also that it was less durable, and i noticed that this line tended to fray or wear more often than i was comfortable with.
i then switched to using PowerPro exclusively (65 or 80lb) for a long time until the end of last year.
i liked PowerPro for it's small diameter and durability, although at times this line seemed to snap under sudden pressure (bad backlash, trolling hang-up, etc.) more easily than some others i'd used. great all around line with nice small diameter for it's strength.
this year, Msky Hnr showed me the Spiderwire Stealth and i am now in the process of switching all my reels over to this line when they need re-filling. i like it's strength, it hasn't frayed on me, packs very well on the reel, and it holds almost no water (and i like cold-weather fishing, so that's important to me).
consider your applications, and what you need the line to do!
are you trolling alot and need a durable line with small diameter?
are you mastering a baitcaster and want an easy-to-use line?
are you mostly casting and need strength and compactness on the reel?
and then...try a couple different lines on various reels to see what's best for you. |

| I use Berkeley Big Game in 30lb. clear, for both muskies and stripers. I know many out there don't like the stretch of mono, but I like the shock absorption. I agree with everyone else, it is personal preference.

| In short, only on the new Palm's that utilize the Windows mobile platform. PrologueFE is built for the Windows mobile platform. However, at the end of January, we will have the new version of PrologueFE that will function on the Palm Treo 700s since the new Palm Treo 700 now utilizes Windows mobile. The new Palm Treo 700 was just released this week. |

| Hey GRASS- you can look at Rollies, they usually have it, It depends on where you live with the ganders and fleets. I can only find 80lb once in a while at gander and usually 65 everywhere else. Rollies is the only place I know of to carry 100lb though. If all else fails, try bass pro shops or cabelas, one of the two has it. I just can't remember which one. |
