Aren't the ticas like 120 or 130?

Did the price drop? Or are they making a lower-priced model now? (either way: tried Tica for a year: 2 reels, two problems right off the bat, two got fixed (they might have sent me new reels even, but I sold'em at swap shows without looking at them).

Bob,

I heard they had moved and are now in Kent, WA. Check out their website for updates. You may want to contact them to make sure they rec'd it. Very smooth reel and comfortable handle. Wish they were more reliable Mine is going back for repairs after very little time on the water.

I called the company and that is where they told me to send the reel.....They told me they have recieved the reel so I am not that worried about it just want the reel fixed.

I just saw there web-site and it says there is a new address in WA you are right maybe they are forwarding packages to there new site. That could be what is taking so long. Like I said they told me they have the reel now. Maybe caught them in a transition....

Thanks for the info though,
Bob

I use 'small' reels compared to most, I just don't like the big oxy reels much. I set the drag, lube and clean the reel often enough, and take care not to click it over tossing a 5 ounce lure while the bait is still in the air. I really have VERY few problems, and I fish really hard. I have a couple older Abu Professional series reels in the 5500, and have had great luck with them. I use the Okumas for spinnerbaits, and the Abus for bigger stuff. I also have a few low profile reels, two by Bass Pro and two Torno 3003 models that have been bulletproof for a couple seasons now. All were under $100.

SHIMANO CORVALUS 400 $79
VERY VERY RELIABLE - very smooth - never had a problem and it was pounded last season. Lots of the features of a Calcutta.
I just bought another one along with another Calcutta 400B, The Pflueger Trion 66 is a good one too - 3 years 0 problems.

I use all low profile shimano curado's for the last 5 year's and have can't say anything bad about them --- everyone is selling them now for 99 bucks because of the 2006 model's that came out.

Has anyone got any feed back on the new browning six river's baitcasting reel they just came out with --- model as3000s?

I have two Abu Garcia C5's from Cabela's, one has three years on it and one two years and not a bit of problems with either. For a low profile I have a BPS Extreme bought on sale for $49 and that one has been flawless for two years.

Diawa Millionaire CVX's are my favorite reels. I'm sure the higher-end CVZ's are just as strong only smoother. They are the smoothest reels I've owned (for muskies) and also the strongest. I also have a Phlueger Trion 56 that has been going pretty good. I always use the medium sized reels. (no need to hold more than 100 yards of 80 lb tuff-xp)

I have broken an abu 5000 (1BB, but best casting abu I had), 6500C3, 6500C4, Shimano Corsair 400 and Okuma Nitryx X-400

Of course I used to fish as many as 100 days a year. Now that I'm down to about 5, I don't think I will break as many reels.

If you are going to fish Muskies 50-200 days per year (you lucky stiffs), any reel you buy will have problems standing up to the repeated casting and cranking without wearing out parts. These reels look very much alike inside. Worrall's right too - I have just cringed when I accidently engage the reel while a heavy bait's in the air. I have learned to open up and clean and lube/oil and inspect the Abu reels 4601-6501 and Ultracast (thanks Moccasin Mike) and they seem to do great with such maintenance. A buddy brought a relatively new Spiderwire reel into the boat casting medium sized bucktails- the thing was shot after two hours. I'm not sure, but I wonder if more Abus get sent in for repair because more Abus are sold to muskie fisherman (???). I have seen a lot of old Ambassadeurs around. My experience shows they have great customer service. I've been sent new reels when the damage done to reels under warranty was my fault.
All the best,
djw
