Location: Contrarian Island | Has anyone tried any of the on board chargers that you can either plug in or that also charge the batteries while running the big engine?
I see Dual Pro makes a 2 bank one and Pro-Mariner makes a 3 bank one. any advice/good/bad or otherwise on these chargers?
thanks |

Location: Hayward, WI | Just make sure that your motor is putting out enough amps to do some good, approx 45 amps or more. With that much they work great. On most motor will not charge much at idle or low speed, just high end, but all depends on your motor.

Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I have the Dual Pro SE. I run a 97' 200 Merq EFI, I think the alternator puts out about 30 amps. When fishing bigger lakes on longer trips it pays off. I go on a week trip to Vermillion before that it was LOTW. I can run 2 days very hard on my trolling batteries without charging at the dock no problem. It really wouldn't pay fishing smaller Wisconsin lakes. My bro has a new Triton and 225 e-tek and he strugles with his batteries towards the end of one day on the big lakes.
West Marine, and I think Bass-Pro and/or Cabela's makes add on units to do the same thing.
I run 2 $50 fleet farm batteries for the trolling motor and the Dual Pro makes em work great. |
