Do any of the batteries on the market really standout? I need new batteries before spring.
I am upgrading my rod holders with Bulletproof Tackle. This stuff is hardcore. The name really describes the quality of their product. Bulletproof.
How long of rails do most of you use. I want to make sure I get it right the first time. I have a 1750 Fishawk. Thanks, musky39

I have run several brands of batteries in tournament and non-tournament conditions. Optima, Exide and Interstate. The optima is not worthy of the hype (short run time) convenient though and non-spillable, Exide was good but depleted after many charges. The interstate is by far superior in tough conditions and they hold up the best for me in all conditions. An additional challenge comes from the size of the wires running to the trolling motor outlet. In this case bigger is better. A #8 or even #10 is typical factory rigging from the manufacturers. I remove the wires in my new boats and install a #6. This provides for greater power and charging capabilities. Further in-depth thinking would also warrant a high quality on-board charger. i have used the Guest, the Minnkota and the Dual-Pro. the Dula-Pro is by far superior to any other brand. My boat is plugged in ALL the time i am not using it.

Hope this helps
