Location: Central Iowa | I'm looking at a used crestliner with a 1998 40hp 2 stroke Nissan. I don't know much about Nissans. Does anyone have any experience with Nissan outboards....good or bad? Any help is appreciated. |

I would try to find a service center for Nissan's around you so just in case something happens, you don't have to drive 800 miles to get one serviced.

I would say go for it.

Location: Cohasset, MN | I used to have a 90hp that I liked. I believe that Nissan is actually a rebadged Tohatsu. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | Nissan and tohatsu are supposed to be same like mentioned above. My neighbor at the lake has one on his ponton with DFI on it... very smooth and great on gas. |

Location: Hayward, WI | They had 2 versions, a 2 cylinder and a 3 cylinder. The 2 was pretty rough running, but the 3 was very smooth. I would stay away if it was the 2 cylinder.

Location: Woodridge, Ill | I owned a Nissan 2 stroke 40hp and it ran like a top. I wish I had never sold it. That thing was indestructable. Anyways, I sold the boat and motor and now I own a 90hp Tohatsu TLDI 3 cylinder direct injected. it is sweeeeeet !!!! I bought it new in 2003 and I have trailered it across the country everywhere. Very dependable and very fuel efficent. No problems too. I recommend either brand as they are the same. |
