What speed are you guys trolling at during this time of the year? The water temps I would be looking at would be in the 42-35 degree range.

43 degree water temps the other day we picked up a nice fish staying between 3.5-4 mph

2.5 to 4 mph works well for me this late in the year.

2.5 to 3.5 mph when the water is below 40 F, but experiment with different speeds

djs, it kind of depends on what you're pulling. Those pounder bulldawgs like 2mph and under, big cranks that I pull work best from 2.5 - 5mph, big spinnerbaits work from 2-6+ mph.
I let the fish me (I know thanks a lot). My first pass I tend to go faster mainly because I'm excited. I'll slow down if I don't get bit and nerves settle a bit. Experiment

It is easy to experiment with trolling speed by doing some "s" turns. The lure will be going faster on the outside of the truns and slowerr on the inside. If the hit comes on the outside lure then you can speed up a little on your straight trolls etc.

sled says "what's trolling?" well jon its what you do when you have had your absoulute worst day of fishing on a particular body of water, when you have run out of options, then within a few minutes it becomes your best ever day on that particular water
donnie next sat possibly if the boss lets me out to play!
