I'm back. Wow am I in pain. I feel like I'm a cheap prop for an exorcist movie where my head spins around all the time. I ended up staying an extra day in the hospital due to a fever we couldn't figure out the source but it went away. This collar is really driving me nuts. Looks like I picked a good time to do it since most things are icing up pretty goood and the landings are real bad. Check out my new Blog where I will be keeping everyone updated.

Get well soon, dude. I hope you take a well-needed rest and recoup and can be ready for spring muskie season.
Remember, it will only get better from here.
all my best, m

Yeah, heal up quick, you have a newlywed on your hands too, just imagine whats going to happen when you get some clearance to do some "things".

Give it time man, and mend well.
My wife is getting over her second neck surgery and she's been living in pain since February.
Her head and neck and her hip where they took the bone from.
Follow the Doc's orders and you'll get better in a hurry.
Praying helps too. I'll keep you in mine.

Best of luck Derek on a speedy recovery. Head down South and fish our open season once you are able. Fox Chain or Shelbyville, just let me know. I will be up your way every week the next four months, perfect just as the WI musky season closes

Thanks everyone. It really sucks to be 31 and have all these spinal problems, I can't wait till I'm 50!! I just have to keep plugging on, no sense in letting this slow me down too much. Beav, I see your daughter plays hockey....many of my problems are from playing for many years. I started playing when I was five and played hardcore all the way through high school and then coached, refereed and played in an adult league. Tough sport, very rough on the body, but there's nothing better than lacing up and hitting a freshly surfaced rink. I've been catching up reading fishing books and magazines the past couple of days, so I consider that productive time towards muskie fishing. Muskyboy maybe later next month we could hit the ice around here for some eyes or pannies.

Derek,
Glad to see you got it over with and am now recuperating, That's the hard part. When we are younger we think we are invincable and can't be hurt. Boy were we wrong. In my younger years I ran the racing circuit. Started with motorcyle racing than stockcars than on to drag racing, demolition derbies and in my forties, I got back into the bikes but this time with Trail Meets,( climbing obsticles with motorcycles). I have had a lot of injuries but never broke anything but I've been paying for it since my "forties".
I blew the L-5, have bulging discs in my neck, have degenerative disc disease, and on this past Thursday just had my second knee surgery.
The L-5 blew when I was 41 and now I'm 63 so becoming 50 isn't any easier so don't "wish" your young life away As any of the older group will tell you, "getting Old is no fun'.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
