Temps fell off almost 25 degrees today, with a high tomorrow in the 40's with some wind. Water temps are going to fall hard, and the big girls will put on the feed bag!
Here's the forecast tomorrow:
5am 6am 7am 8am 9am 10am 11am Noon
Rhinelander, WI Hourly Weather Rhinelander, WI
43° F 41° F 41° F 41° F 42° F 43° F 43° F 43° F

The 15 day forecast calls for a couple days near 60, but every night in the 30's or 20's and most days in the 50's. It's HEEEEEEEEEEEEERE!!

Now that 'seasonal' temps are back, what's your October plan this year? Where do you have trips planned and what techniques are you using to target a fall PIG?

Let's put some days, lakes, and techniques together here, maybe some of those reading this will find themselves same place, same days, and that is a great formula for a couple beers and maybe a shared boat or two. The Hideout is open next week, by the way, if anyone needs a crash lacation for Chuck's tournament here in Rhinelander.

The 14th-16th--Tournament in Rhinelander, in the rig all day all weekend. Depends on the lakes we draw, but Perkas will get wet, so will the suckers.
The 21st, 22nd--Kly Tourney, no boat or fishing for me, but alot of pictures and a great time
The 28th-29th-30th---Pelican in the mornings, deer stand in the afternoon-- Perkas, an H2O, my favorite weighted Suick, suckers, and...JIGS!!!

Anyone in the area is welcome to stop by the Hideout all three weekends, Slamr and Crash will be here the14th to the 16th, plenty of room for a couple more Muskie anglers.

How about you?

Well all I really have booked so far is the KLY outing. Probably run 2 suckers that weekend target steep breaks if there is any room left on the lake. Or I'll try Garvin with a couple suckers and my Super Suick. Hopefully try to shoot up to Pewaukee or Okauchee for a day here or there, depending on if I can be somebody's net man ,or borrow Jeremy's motor. He's talkin about taking the baby on her first campin trip soon also. Probably go to Shabbona, camp and fish a whole weekend soon. Work deep suckers, on steep breaks, casting mag dawgs , depth raiders, and 10 inch Jakes. Looks to be getting close to time to break out the 13 inch Grandmas and drag them around the lake too.

Steve, you know my schedule. But when I can fit it in, I'll be visiting a certain lake to see if I can spend any time with a big wet fattie. Try to spend a little time on the local sewers just so I can say I was fishin'. We've got lots of steep breaks around here. Not much else but lotsa steep breaks.

I've got to visit Wissota again this year too. Was only there once this year and managed a very nice 46" on that trip.

I'm looking forward to working with some suckers. It is funny how your ideas about those little guys change over time. I'm also
looking forward to using a countdown depthraider a bit more this fall. I will also have to throw the bulldawg some too.

My choice isn't where, but what to do. Going to explore bigger baits this fall and some areas I usually don't spend much time on. From now until ice up (usually around mid-December) I'll be working diligently to dial in the tigers in case anyone comes out to visit...
Irrigation season has ended and the reservoir will not drop any further, in fact will begin to rise slightly. Anyone else deal with steadily rising water in the fall? Current surface temps are still slightly above 60F.

Oct 19-22, Mille Lacs with Tauchen
Oct. 28-30, Iron Co., maybe hop on the Mani
Oct 31-Nov 2, Mille Lacs
rest of Nov. up in the air..maybe one more run to Mille Lacs and maybe Oneida before it freezes up..

Try like heck to get a 48+ on Monona...

Good luck to everyone.

Those that have no plans or are planning on being in the Oneida/Vilas County are, consider fishing the October Musky Fest Tournament on the 15th and 16th. Definitely a great time will be had by all. Worried about the chance at a fatty? All waters in the tournament have a great chance at pushing out a 50"+.

My prediction....3 fish over 50" for the tourney. Bold prediction, but you have to have some kind of goals. 3 over 50" is not that far fetched either considering the quality of anglers that have signed up for the tourney, the time of year, presentations allowed and the bodies of water being fished.

Well in advance, but they are calling for low to mid 50's and partly cloudy for the weekend of the 15th and 16th. Stable weather that is much cooler from now through that weekend is always good.

Hope to see people up here,

Chuck

Norm,

Good luck on your surgery, I know how it goes. I had a Microdisectomy in May and it slowed me down for a bit and I now I'm having one done on my neck in November.

Good luck norm, I can relate to the back issues. The past 12 months have been very difficult for me as well.

I plan to hit southern wisconsin lakes this fall. Pewaukee, Monona, etc., looking for the fat one...

Fishing Madison chain off and on till end of season. Will be up at my cabin fishing Minocqua chain at the end of the month . I'm also taking aone day guided trip since I didn't make it to Canada. Then I'll fish Pewuakee a couple of times and Okauchee once or twice. Hope to try a couple of different tactics and hopefully get a BIG ONE!!!!

Lac Vieux Desert Bound! Suckers all night, yes I am sleeping in the boat w/ the bait clickers armed and ready! Probaly won't sleep much, too busy shivering, brrr. Maybe a nice Tiger awaits, but I'll take anything over 45 with little complaint. Every day/night counts now. Fall is here.
