| I'm looking to fish the Muskie reservoirs in Ohio. Thinking about a
boat that provides maximum opportunity at minimum price. I'm looking to
outfit a 16-18' flat bottom aluminum boat with some rod holders for
trolling and a < 10 HP outboard so I can use it in some of the power
restricted areas. If I want to use the outboard for trolling, what size
do you recommend? (Optimal trolling is more important to me than
getting around quickly.)
Any other equipment hints or tips will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael Courtney

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I'd look into the Mercury Pro Kicker 4 stroke. It's the motor of choice for many Pro walleye anglers, and comes with power tilt standard. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | I use a Mercury 9.9 (2 cycle) on my 16 ft. BassTracker in Ohio's restricted lakes, and it does just fine for trolling. If you want to get out and give it a try send me a message and I can show you. Now is the time! m
ps - I got mine as a factory re-build "Canada resort" motor at quite a discounted price. I was a bit skeptical at first but I've not had any problems with it and it still starts on the first pull. m |
