I am actually going to be purchasing a new boat for myself this winter and was wondering if anybody would recommend a Lowrance graph that is not too complicated to work and easy readability...It does not have to be color...The price makes no difference, but am in favor of Lowrance's....Any ideas or recommendations???

If you go to Lowrance's Web Site, you can download software that will you try out the unit you wish to purchase. They have it for all there model's. I run the upgraded LCX-16c and love it, plus a global map 5000c
goood luck

The Lowrance website also has a feature where you can compare the models you are looking at side by side.

I ended up with the 332c and for the most part, I am happy with the unit.

Personally, I have used many many many different locators, and when it comes to actual fishing applications, give me a flasher over any LCD any day. I want a locator for two things, to tell me how deep the water is and if there is anything between me and the bottom.
I'm sick of running off of steep breaks and watching my LCD try to catch up while it says I'm in 650 feet of water.
Give me a flasher that tells me how deep the water is. How steep the break is by the width of the band on the display, and one that can keep up with bottom changes as they happen in real time.......not while the unit searches for the bottom for a minute.
I think next year I'll be running a pair of FL-8's, or Zercoms if they still make a flasher unit.
Oh no, I've turned into a grumpy old man. But I'd still do just as well with an old Green Box!

All the Lowerance units use the same software system (for the most part). I don't think they're that tough to use and if I can figure it out it can't be that tough.

If you want a flasher, stay away from Zercom. Everybody I know that had one, had it go bad. Get a Vexlar and you'll never regret it. I just replaced my Zercom (broken) with a FL-10 and I have to say that it's awsome. Now I use my X-15 as a chart plotter and use my FL-10 for depth.

Actually, if you are even considering a flasher, I'd look into MarCum. Top quality, top technology.Treats, EVERYONE you know who had a Zercom had it go bad? I had several over the years, and far as I know, they are still cooking along. I had one for about 5 years before I sold it on the last 17 footer I had.
