I am thinking of taking my family to Lake of The woods next summer. Can any of you experts recommend a resort that is close to good fishing, but is also "kid friendly"? It seems a lot of them cater just to the muskie fisherman. I would be bringing my wife and three children. A beach, playset etc is crucial. Thanks for any suggestions. Joe

If you want a kid friendly place on Lake of the Woods you really need to take a hard look at Canadian Haven Resort in Nestor FAlls. I have recommended it to a number of people and none have been disappointed. Check out their website at http://www.canadianhaven.com. I know you will be happy there. Tell Brian and Kathy (owners) Hi from Bob Pieske. I live just across the bay from their camp.

Big Narrows resort is kid/family friendly w/ a beach, canoe, paddleboat, kayak, hot tub and serves three meals a day. It has friendly staff, guides, and a great lodge overlooking the lake. There is ample fishing nearby for walleye, pike, smallies, and skis. Just a little pricey $$$.

Go to Sandy's Black Hawk or Walshes Bay store.

Though I love Bay Store and don't go anywhere else, I'm not sure it would be ideal for a wife and kids-type vacation. And unless a lot has changed in the last month, Frank doesn't have a swingset, sandbox, swimming, etc. If you want to stay in an awesome fishing camp, go to Baystore! If your wife and kids will be in the boat with you all day, go to Baystore! If you want them to be able to run around and play in camp, you're probably better off somewhere else.

private message me for a heads up - or two places to stay away from - for whatever reason my warning was deleted - it was 100% true - and I'd hate to see it happen to another poor bas^ard from this site.

Joe, if fishing and catching fish (walleyes and northerns) is the main concern, email me at [email protected] , problem is they don't have a beach, but if the wife doesn't want to cook and the family wants great food and plenty of it, I have a great place that is on it's own island. God Bless, Al
