I've noticed that my motor isn't spraying as much water out of the "p" hole and my oil consumption has increased. Do 2 stroke motors use more oil if they'er running at a higher temp?

I think I'm due for a impeller change as a winter project, anybody know where to get a manual to do this on a Merc?

Gander-

Its a simple job. An extra set of hands makes this really easy.

Check your "p" hole (No, the Merc's "p" hole!!) to be sure there is not an obstruction. As the weather cools, I have trouble w/small spiders nesting in the discharge line. They can set up shop quickly & must be forcibly evicted w/appropriately sized weapon.

Oil consumption: Injected motor? Oil consumption is regulated by the pump, so only some sort of abnormal wear or maladjustment could cause increased consumption.

Is your oil tank level dropping noticeably faster? (Possible leak in tank, line, fittings, pump, etc..) Or are you seeing more smoke?

I would think no, the temp will not increase oil use. No warning horns at any time yet?

None. No problems starting after shes run a bit and she's never shut down.

No more smoke? The oil is going somewhere else: Check tank, line, fittings, pump, etc for leakage.

Now the nervous part: If the excess oil is NOT getting to the motor, is the motor getting ENOUGH oil?

Good luck!!
