| Considering a trip to Vermillion for a couple days at the end of September, beginning of October. Have never fished it before. Wanting to camp and looking for suggestions on where to go and what lake/fishing is like this time of year. Thanks in advance. |

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | For the East End try Mclinley Park Campground http://www.mckinleypark.net/index.html.
For the West End, it has to be WakemUp bay campground. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_forests/sft00027/index.html
I prefer the East end, but the wind can really play harry with boat control. If you have a small boat, I would refer you to the West end, much more protected from the wind.
Hiring a guide is always a good idea, if you can afford it. Otherwise, fish the bouys at structure. There are fish in these areas.

| There are the "campgrounds" mentioned or there are many places around the lake to camp.
Pick up a map and it should show areas like Hinsdale Island with a bunch of campsites. Pretty nice sites and not busy this time of the year.
As far as fishing -- if it looks fishy fish it. It's all good.

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | Have you tried to pull a boat up to tie it off off on the Hinsdale Island sites? We scouted them all this year and found only 1 or 2 where you could pull a boat up safely, and it wouldn't get creamed on the rocks if a wind came up.
Also, those sites are fairly small, amd boat in only. I wish there where larger boat in sites on Big V. as I don't care much for the RV "campgrounds".
