From the guys who own them..what do you think of them? would you buy another...found a good deal on an 05 boat with a new Optimax 150 on it....

Yep.

Had a 175 last year and a 150 this year. VERY solid and no problems. The Opti problem is with the big blocks.

Actually, the Opti problems were with the big blocks. Operative word; were. Mercury has the big blocks running great.

I had a 2000 150 Opti that was an awesome motor. Very fuel efficient and problem free. Winterizing it was a beast though. The 6th cyl plug is an absolute bear to remove. BTW you have to remove the plugs and inject oil into each cyl. You cannot spray fogging oil into the intake on a Opti. I found using a short piece of clear tubing that fits snug over the tip of the plug will give you the leverage you need to get the plug started and removed.

Treats I had a extended warranty from Pinnacle on the Triton. Didn't have to use it but based on my research it was about the best you could get if you are no longer qualified for a OEM warranty extension.
