| I was watching a few old Linder shows last night while cleaning out my Tivo. It seams like they fish the super Shad Rap a lot for muskies. What do you guys think of this lure? I'm looking for a versitle crankbait. Maybe it's the Shad Rap.

| Terrific bait, great price, tight wobble, decent construction. Change the hooks and maybe the split rings though. Excellent shad profile if you fish shad based lakes (like Steve said, Shelbyillve fish love 'em). They are also very bouyant and back out of cover well, excellent twitched. All in all, one of my favorite baits to throw. I only wish they had rattles but that's just me. |

Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I did a trolling lure poll a while back and this bait was mentioned often. So I started trolling them more and now I won't be without at least one in my spread. I have had a bunch of success with them, and all sizes of fish too. |

| Its smaller, shad profile excells in the midwest and southern shad/shiner infested waters. Shelbyville and Shabbona Muskies eat them like candy. |

| They cast great, they retrieve great, and troll great. I run them on boards most of the time with 15/2 to 35/2. The two biggest fish last fall came on them and the second biggest this spring. I put 3/0 hooks on and Bucher rings. I lost a monster at the boat a few years ago becouse the hooks that come on them would not swallow the lower jaw. That and I forgot the net! Later |

Location: Racine, Wi | Ditto to what was said above, and don't forget to shortline them. The 2nd and 3rd fish of the spring came shortline speed trolling them. I like the fact that I can get them to stay a bit deeper when casting and ripping them in. |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I call the SS the cheapest most underated bait out there. For less than $10.00 you get a solid crank, twitch and trolling bait with great action and a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from.

| I agree. I also put the Bomber Long As up there as well. Cheap, very effective, durable and proven. Can't go wrong with those two baits, the Rapala Super Shad Rap and the Bomber Long A. They'll put fish on the lines... |

Location: Oconomowoc, WI | Excellent bait. Consistently puts fish in my boat. I have never trolled it, but it is a VERY good twitch bait. I can work the thing through the thickest cover and bring back the bait weed-free most casts. Durable--I have a few that have tons of tooth holes and still work perfectly. The most realistic bluegill, walleye, and shad colors you'll find.
My 11 year old caught a 35" on the bluegill pattern last week--twiching around fallen wood. He agrees-GREAT bait. |

Location: Lafayette, IN | My biggest came on a SS Rap too. A 42"er. I've caught more on this bait than any other. Had about as many follows too. Swims great a several speeds. Buldge it, crank it. rip it, burn it. It's very versatile.

| Great bait -
In my opinion becomes an even better twitch bait if you cut the lip off right were it angles forward --I believe Dan Sura showed this to me a couple years back.... anyway it makes the bait have a controlled dance with a twitch retrieve and will do 180's when jerked definately puts alot of fish in the boat and large fish as well I got a 48" last fall twitching this bait with the lip modified |

| Is it just me, or do the rest of you get rid of those ugly, dull silver hooks too?
I found some in a sales bin for $5. I bought 5 and could take the paint off with steel wool.
It seems they must have pulled them because the lures with the chrome kind of base just won't hold paint. They did the same thing with regular Rapalas and Shad Raps too. Trolling those colored lures for walleyes last spring, they were "one fish lures". The paint just peeled off.
Now I have some that I plan on dragging in the prop wash for a good part of my next vacation.

Location: Des Moines IA | I snagged a Super Shad Rap at Shabbona yesterday. Still attatched to the leader and line. Gave a yank and pulled up a Super Shad Rap ,a 7 strand leader, and some braided line still attatched to the stump. Cut the braided and gained a new bait! And a leader! Casted it and trolled it alot yesterday, Bomber Long A's too. Still to no fish in the boat. Seems my big $ baits are sitting in the lakewood more often now that I have found these cheap baits catch fish! Lots of fish! |
