Looking for something with enough power to throw a medium spinnerbait over the weeds, but can also handle lighter 5-6" bucktails (Mepps Musky Killers for example). Need something with a longer handle, good feel too it, light but strong. Money is no real object, but would rather not be ordering a custom.

In my opinion the perfect rod for your application would be a St. Croix Avid 7.6 medium heavy model # AM76MHF very light, strong, good balance and feel. The 7 footer would also be a good choice if your more comfortable with something shorter AM70MHF. I would not recommend the Premier series because you stated that you wanted a longer handle.

i love St Croix rods but my new favorite bucktail rod is the 7'10'' fig rig tooth tamer in Medium fast action. loads up great with lighter bucktails and is longer for a better figure 8

In my opinion, the 8' MH Premier with rod balancer is the best bucktail rod out there for the money.

You must have forearms like Pop-eye.
