What do you guys think of the smaller round 2-pin plug-ins? I have one of the three pin larger diameter ones and had some over heating problems last week that included a little bit of melting rubber.

Are you assuming that the different connector style will fix your overheating problems? I dont believe this is accurate. If you are overheeting to the point of melting rubber I think you may have a more serious electrical issue to check out.

If you are getting overheating in the plug, you either exceeded the amperage rating of the plug or wires or have a minor short. I'd trace the connections and wires back to the batteries to check for problems.
