Thinking of getting a low-profile reel for Crash, and for me to use on a lighter muskie rod. Thinking something able to throw some topwaters, small spinnerbaits and bucktails, and an occassional twitchbait.

Right now I'm contemplating between the Okuma 150 Induron (just a small round reel, I know), Morrum 5600, Abu Torno....any suggestions?

There are some excellent low profile reels that still have line capacities closer to a 5xxx sized Abu, than the typical bass reel. Unfortunately, most aren't made anymore. But you can find them on e-bay, and even the Ultra Mags should be under a c-note (except maybe NIB examples). Some even have clickers, and mag control. Unfortunately, most use a single stack drag, but you can increase top end somewhat with Penn HT100 or Smoooothie discs:
Quantum-Pro 4.5/QMD1420
Shimano-BSM2200W/Mag 50/Mag 50 mag/Bantam 300 or 400
Abu-Mag or Ultra Mag II or III/XLT II or III
Ryobi T2
And some others that escape me. I use the QMD1420, Bantam 50, BSM2200W, and Mag II regularly, and all are workhorse reels (The Shimano is especially sweet). Of course if you're using braid, the line capacity is really not an issue, so you can go to one of the many excellent "bass sized" reels like Chronarchs, TD's, etc.

I have a Torno (t3006hsi) and love it. Shimano Curado is another good one.

I am going to throw gander boy under the bus a bit, get the torno, I have several and they work great. They have the gears of the round reel and will outcast any other reel you have. Now where to get them. Fisherman's factory outlet has the 3003(5.3to1) for 50 bucks, the 3004(6.3to1) for 60 bucks. They retail for 84 and 119 respecively. I have 50 and 65lb power pro on mine. You can't beat that deal.

I have two Torno models, and love 'em. All my muskies last week were boated on a Torno.

Slamr,

I have two Torno's on rods that are used steady and one in the box on the shelf. Unfortunately Garcia has a history of not manufacturing some of the best reels they've made for very long...The Ultra-Cast is one example, C5's are another, and now the Torno... I wish they would stick with the good stuff they've made and keep producing it. The Torno is no longer current production but you can find them out there. Awesome reels for bucktails, twitch baits, small gliders, and topwater up to about a Topraider.

I have a Morrum 5600, it isn't really much smaller than the Morrum 6600. But it can also handle any lure in my tackle box...

Great reel, I highly recommend it...

You can't beat FFO's price on the tornos, 50 and 60 bucks each, the way to go.

Mark, the C5's are still available through Cabela's and I can find them at a couple of local tackle shops.

My Edit: Thanks, I know Cabela's has them, I think they purchased what stock Abu had left. What I would love to find is another 5600 Ultra Cast...

Hey Todd, I wasn't really looking for a reel at the moment. Email me and let me know how much you're wanting for it.
