Location: Iowa | I have been hearing from various people that the Minnesota DNR shut down all the state parks and state facilities in Minnesota because there is no new budget in place yet...I was told that as of last Thursday night at midnight they closed all state facilities and parks...Will this effect access to lakes if it is true?...

| Parks are remaining open, but your reservations, if you have them, basically mean nothing as there will be no state employees there to enforce anything. the parks are operating on a first come, first served basis right now and there is no fee to get in the park. you can still get to the lakes that are in the parks. |

Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | I just got back from taking my folks who are visiting from western N.Y. to see the start of the big ol' Mississippi at Itasca State Park. Everything looked like it was operating as normal to me, from the girl who took my $7.00 at the entrance to the restaurant where we ate......... |

Location: Ames, Iowa | Spoke by phone with the DNR officials at Deer River this morning on this very topic. Legislature came through on Thursday, everyhting open as usual. Just got off the phone with a friend who says the rest stops are still closed but should be open by Saturday.
Warmin Up, time to go muskie fishing.
All the best,
