Posts: 5874 | Get Dramamine patches and apply the night before you go out. There is nothing you can take once you get motion/sea sick, except a big dose of terra firma.

Posts: 1080 | Head to your local pharmacy or drug store and get these elastic wrist bands that have a 'lil marble-like object sewn into the wrist band. One for each wrist. The "marble" acts puts pressure on your pressure point on the palm side of your wrist. They work wonders. They work for women who are pregnant and experience morning sickness as well. Learned that from both experiences.

Posts: 7039 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Well Crash...we know that it IS true that you have to put the Dramamine patch on a LITTLE earlier than 20 minutes before you get on the boat. Good chumming though.

I like to drink heavy, hard stuff, no beer unless you need a chaser, Jack, Crown, White Russians then 3 hrs of coma, boom, hit the water dramamine is for Quakers.

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Bonine is actually better than Dramamine. The active ingredient is meclizine which is what we use to treat vertigo. Even Benadryl or generic diphenhydramine will work somehwat. Word of caution with any of these is the most common side effect is drowsiness. There is also the Scopolomine patch which is prescription only that many people find works real good, especially for longer trips.

Crash McG To be safe...I'd put them on a while before getting on the boat. Personally, myself, I don't get sea sick. But I know a lot that do. My cousin for instance..is terrible with sea sickness. We have him put these bands on before hand and he seems to do okay. My wife used these with her morning sickness in the first tri-mester of pregnancy. Worked like a charm to curb the morning sickness. Took a while to catch up to her and work for her though, being she had the morning sickness a while before trying these wrist bands. After an hour or so...the sickness would subside. I think sea sickness is like anything else out there though...everyone is affected by it differently. What works for one person, may not neccessarily work for the next person. Just give 'em a try.

Posts: 140 | I too vote for the Bonine even though I work for the company that makes Dramamine. Just too much cotton mouth and a lingering drousy feeling. Take 1 tablet before you goto bed and another as soon as you get up. Taking a dose just before you leave is worthless.
