A big thanks to Blackhawk Muskie club for donating $1000.00 to Capital City Muskies Inc. for additional funds to stock more Leech Lake strain muskie fingerlings in Lake Monona this fall. I would also like to commend the Oregon Muskie Busters for a pledge of $2000.00 to the cause. Rockford's Flatlanders Chapter of Muskies Inc. also stepped up to the plate with a $500.00 donation!

These funds are in addition to 500 Leech Lake fingerlings that Capital City will purchase this fall for Lake Monona. WDNR has approved the stocking and will stock Wisconsin strain fingerlings of the same size, fin clip both strains and study the growth comparisons over the years.

We are very excited about this study!

Where are they getting the Leech Lake muskies from? I would like to get our musky club to purchase some.

Mike, our V.P. is taking care of the details. All I know at this point is that the fish are being obtained by a fish farm in Minnesota. I believe the quota and orders have been filled this year, more will be available next year.

Awesome news. I'm very happy for all anglers in that area of the state. I don't think you will be disapointed with the results in a few years.

Now if we could only get that kind of cooperation and working relationship from the folks in charge up in the northern part of the state.

relationships are a two-way street.
the leadership group at CCMI is exceptional, and very good at relationship building.
it's paying off!

First I want to second Steves comments on thanking these clubs for their support of our fine fishery!! We are all excited to see what these fish can do since we know the current WIstrain we are using are doing VERY WELL...very fat and some BIG fish being seen in this relatively young fishery.

We are getting our fish from the MN muskie farm. You can do a search and find their website pretty easily. I am not sure if ALL of their fish are spoken for or not. I know Rob was planning on raising a LOT this year.

Right now we are planning on stocking 700 Leechers and 700 WI strain fish into monona in the Oct/Nov time frame for this year.
