Posts: 294 Location: Sakatchewan,Canada | I am trying to find out if i have a couple of real Teddy baits and whether or not the ones i am looking at on the internet are the real deal.If someone can answer these questions it would help me out a lot. 1.Are they made of some kind of hard foam? The ones i have appear to be made of some kind of hard yellow foam.(one has quite a bit of wear) 2.Do they have hook anchors that go through the back of the bait like a Eddie Bait or a Reef Hawg?Mine dont but the ones on the net may have them on the front two hooks. 3.Did they come in two different sizes?Mine are what i have always called 9" but are actually 8.25".I have seen them on the net as 7" and 9". 4.Did they come with split rings?Mine didn't but the ones i am looking at have them on the two front hooks. 5.Where are Lindy baits made?I always thought that they were made in Minnesota.Has Lindy always been based out of Minnesota? The baits on the net say that they are made in Wisconsin. 6.What is the proper name Teddy or Teddie?I always thought it was Teddy, but i have seen both. 7.Did they come with a wire leader?I have them with and without. All of the Teddy baits i own have a scale pattern on part of the paint job and the eyes are on the top side of the head.If anyone can answer any of these questions it would be very helpful to me to determine if my baits and the ones i am looking at are actual Teddy Baits. Thanks!!

| I'll try and answer some, the first originals were made out of wood-hard maple I believe. They came in variations of hook hangers and/or split rings.I think the bait was called a Teddy/Teddie bait desighend by a Minnesota guide, then Lindy Tackle pushed it as the the Big Jerk. They worked great when they were made out of wood, but the paint would peel off. When they came out with the plastic version they were junk!If you find any wood versions -GO FOR IT! | |||

Posts: 294 Location: Sakatchewan,Canada | Thank you for your reply Musky Man.You have confirmed what i suspected. It sounds like there was a wood version and then this foam/plastic version that only had screw eyes. Thanks! If there is anyone else out there with more info on the Teddy Baits please share what you know.
