| I was told that I needed a passport to get back from Canada but today when I went to get one the guy said I didn't need one till 2007. I'll get one anyway, but you only need one if you are flying back and forth from the document he showed me. Maybe someone else has more info on here. Might have already been covered for all I know.

| Everyone should have a passport, it is kinda crazy not to. It is your right to freedom of travel and you NEED it to travel out of the country except of mexico and canada for the most part.. It is also your only source of rights as an american if you are out of the country...really important to have one...Ben |

Location: The Yahara Chain | It is not required, there is a bill in Congress right now that would make it required to get back into America when coming back from Canada and Mexico. I am not sure about the 2007 but I do know that Bush said he is vetoing it. If you are only getting a passport for the return trip from Canada, I would wait. Passports expire. |

Make sure to get your taxes back on qualified purchases and lodging by filling out the form at the crossing or online.
At 15% for provincial and government taxes, it adds up quickly. |

| Last I checked, you need a passport in 2007 for flying, and in 2008 for driving.
Best to get it now and be done with it. I'll bet that more will be tacked on later in order to get the passport, so it might save you $$ now.

This is of course only if you try and re enter the country legally. If you want to hike a little, GW doesn't mind you coming without one...  |

| I was just in Canada last week hunting and all I had was my drivers license and birth certificate. I will look at getting a passport though. Where do you get them? |

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | Anyone planning on visiting the Angle portion of the Woods needs to have current info about crossing the border. There is a new proposal that would require U.S. citizens to have a form I-68. I'm not certain that I understand what a I-68 is but there will be new regulations for anglers staying on the MN. side of the border and fishing Ontario waters. This seems to be required by the US government and not the Canadaians. If I follow it correctly, Anglers fishing in small non-commerical boats will be required to check with US customs every time they cross the border.
I hope this sites moderaters will forgive me and allow this webaddress to stay.
Frank Walsh at Walshs Bay store camp has more info about this on his message board. www.baystorecamp.com According to him this is changing daily. I'm going up in July and I plan to keep current with this so I don't get stopped at the border and ruin my trip. From what I gather this has just come up in the last week or so.
Upon surfing further into this site I see a post by Doug Johnson about this topic. He has complete info in his post.
