I'm thinking about sneaking out of Michigan for the weekend. Is anyone thinking about hitting Minnetonka but didn't want to go alone? I lived for a year in Mound about 15 yrs ago but never even wet a line on that lake. I have a sister in Burnsville and one in Shakopee and will be probably staying at both places. Not positive I'll be able to go yet but I hope I can.

Is there anywhere on the lake I can cast fron shore and have a chance at some Esox?

Or of there is a place along the way from Chicago thru Wisconson not too far out of the way to the twin cities that I should hit (with no boat) tell me.

Dave,

Muskie Season will not be open this weekend in Minnesota howver Bass does open this weekend if that cranks you up.

You would be driving thru Wisconsin and that whole state opens up for Mr Big this weekend.

I was bass/pike fishing tonight and caught two nice pike on a spinnerbait. I guess I better bring the bass stuff. A lot of my smaller pike/musky stuff catches bass anyway. Tonite I got a 10 inch bass on a spinnerbait that had a larger profile than the bass. From the eye to the end of the trailer hook was almost as long as he was. What are they thinking? If you never throw a red eye spoon you should. The one ounce in copper is always with me. Bass, Pike, and Muskie seem to love it. I throw it for early season Pike on St Clair and it never fails to fool a nice smallmouth or two.

Ok, so no muskie in MN is there anywhere worth casting from shore (river/lake) within an hour of the 94 strech from Milwalkee to the MN border?

Not like a closed season was stopping the 2 people I saw out on tonka today

Try the St.Croix, it opens this weekend since it's a border water.

Water's still cool for bass to be up on the beds. I'd try the breaks and/or running rattletraps over the emerging millfoil. We'll see what the weather brings this week. If it warms up, they'll come shallow. If it cools down/rains they'll stay on the breaks.

No, it was someone in a gray lund w/ 125 Merc carb 2 stroke fishing Hardscramble point with a white mepps muskie killer. Funny, everytime I passed he'd drop his line in the water so I couldn't see what he was using. He was also figure 8 ing an awful lot.

I was out there breaking in my new motor so I made sure he knew I was around watching him...

I was up on the north end yesterday, tossing 'dead red' [Mann's -1 in red firetiger, great Tonka pike bait]...

Figure 8ing is tough to stop, once it becomes second nature ;}

Throwing big lures... nope... bad boy(s)!!
