BOATERS BEWARE!!!!

Saturday I arrived at the Webster boat ramp at 5:15 a.m.

There were no parking spots left, so I parked my van and trailer at the only spot I could. My trailer was actually in the parking lot, and my van was on the grass. When I got done fishing, there was a parking ticket on my van, as well as 14-17 other cars/trucks were also ticketed.

DO NOT PARK ANY WHERE NEAR THE GRASS!!!

I called today about the ticket, $93.50.... OUCH!!!!

I am thinking about fighting it, but don't know yet. There were 2 cars parking the handicaped parking spots, and they didn't get tickets, so who knows.

Very simply put, do not park on or near the grass!!!

mike do you got a phone # that we could call to complain about the parking arrangement at the lake? maybe if enough of us call they will rethink a portion of the side of the road!

If it's not marked NO PARKING I have a hard time believing that they could write you a ticket, unless it is private property and the owner of the land requested it.

There are signs on both sides of the street where the tube is but no signs east of the parking lot. Did you park east of the parking lot next to the water? We saw that mayhem when we arrived at 6:30 and opted to go to the other pay ramp. When we got there that ramp was full too. I parked in the grass next to the Dixie Haven pool. I imagine that is their property so I am glad they didn't ask the cops to write us. Have to wonder if it is worth the trip getting up at 2:30am, 180+ miles each way, $70.00 in gas, $93.00 ticket, getting home at midnight, etc.

i know what ya mean luke, its a couple hour ride for me as well. it sucks that if you cant get there before sun up on a weekend, you may not be able to fish where you want that day! be nice to try to get that roadside thing changed. plus that ramp in town sucks! they should have that marked clearer at the backwaters also!!

The Webster marina ramp is always available, however it's a measley little $3 charge to utilize it. No big deal there. Only problem with that launch...is there is definitely no parking space there at all for anyone. Not even a single truck/trailer.

It sounds to me like the Webster lake area needs to buy a plot of land somewhere for additional parking when the Backwater ramp fills up.

Where that would be? I dunno. That's anybody's guess. It'd probably be a ways from the ramp. I could see it now...you'll need to pack your bike to bring along with you too so when you go and park your truck and trailer, then you ride your bike back to the Backwater launch, then lock it up to one of the numerous bike racks they'll have to be putting out there as well! LOL!

It's crazy. I've seen the tickets being issued for the past three or four years.

has anyone ever parked in the business parking lot that is a block or two west of the backwaters ramp? it is always empty on the weekends, just curious if one would get a ticket parking in there too or is it marked private?

John, that parking lot is off limits but you can ask, I have seen them let some bass tounry guys park there.

Mike, I wish I had my phone with me. I knew the roadside was off limits and seen all those vehicles including yours. They do not hesitate to ticket either.

The marina is actually called "Lakeshore Marina", its on the east end of the lake, just pass by the backwater ramp area and follow the signs. Never had a problem with parking there, they usually have me park on the grass in front of the main building. Between the two pay ramps and the backwater ramp there is usually more then enough of spots to park... As there is no other public land on the lake its not likely there will ever be another public lauch put in.

Is there designated/reserved parking for the tournament this weekend? What a PITA if your in the tournament and you have to scramble for a place to launch.

The tourney has always had parking arrangemnts and a shuttle van to the ramp/parking area. No worries there.

There are "no parking" signs on the road on the east side of the parking lot. They didn't used to be there. It is best to get there early. Especially with all of the stellar reports coming from there. There will always be more and more early season fishermen coming before the WI and MN opener and by the time those states open the bassers are out in full force. If there is a bass tourney there you'd better get there super early. They love to get there before it gets light out and hang out for a few hours. Face it, dealing with parking will become even more of an issue as more people fish there.

Try ringing a nearby doorbell if you arrive at reasonable hour and offer a small incentive to the landowner to allow you to park. Perhaps build a lasting relationship for future trips. Just a thought. Its worked for me on other similar circumstances.

What??!! STUMPS IN WEBSTER LAKE????!!

Great Dow!!!!!!!!

(I can sympathize having had to deal with some limited landings in the past) Also, have truly enjoyed watching landing fees being instituted everywhere I fish down here, slowly escalating from free 10 years ago, now to a cost of $120 dollars annual pass, to use the 4 landings I use, on the 4 lakes I normally fish.

I know one of the City council mebers of N webster pretty well and I'll put it to her to see if the town can remedy this situation in any way. After it is business for them.....
