I replaced two of the side running lights on my trailer today. I had them working for for few minutes and then they stopped. All of the running lights are out now, front, back and side. My brake lights and turn signals work fine. Just no running lights. I replaced the 30 amp fuse in my truck that controls the trailer lights. No success.
Any suggestions?

Check your ground connection for corrosion. If any corrosion or rust are present, disconnect it, take a file or sand paperand scrub the connector and where it connects pretty good, then reassemble. If you can find it at a store, coating your ground connection with "No-Ox" can help prevent or slow corrosion. Also, check your hitch ball, if real rusty this can sometimes cause a ground problem. A majority of lighting issues on boat trailers can usually be traced to your ground.. I have fixed several trailers already this year with basically a similar lighting problem. Almost forgot, sometimes your plugs can get some corrosion, I try and find pipe cleaners to clean out some of that corrosion.. a slim tip slotted screwdriver will sometimes work also

If you are blowing the fuse in your truck, you most likely will have a short in your wiring somewhere. I had an issue like this a couple of years ago with my shoreland'r. Shoreland'r hasn't seemed to come on board as of yet for a solution to this issue. As many boat trailers go, water is allowed to fill into the trailer frame through holes, Due to this, and the inside of the frame not being treated for corrosion, surface rust will start to form and your wiring is bound to rub on it. The more rust, the more of a rough surface is created. Hence, over time, the constant vibration of your wiring on the frame chaffs the protective cover of the wire, finally getting to the wire itself, and BAM...blown fuse and no running lights.

If this is your case, it will mean pulling wire to find the wear spots, re connect or rewire, while including a second cover over the wires in the frame. A pain...yes...but worth the time to prevent the problem happening again.

Let us know what you find..
