 | I bought a new Ranger 619 and new Lowrance sonars. Where is a better place to place the transducer. I know and have done in the past, mount them in the boat, but I don't then get water temp. I would rather not have to buy a water temp gauge.
What are the Pro's and Con's for mounting the transducer on the out side of the boat??

 Thanks

 Chad

 | Chad, log onto Walleye Central andask this question of a guy named Michael Meyer. He will explain things in detail and will know all the rigging details for your boat. |

 | I've never owned a boat myself but I've seen problems keeping the proper angle on transducers mounted on the outside of boats . Water preasure on the transducer at higher speeds seem to change the angle of the transducer and do effect the depth readings if not tightened VERY tight. I think mounting it to the bottom on the trolling motor in the way to go.
 Just my $.02 worth

 | I have one mounted on the trolling motor, one mounted on the transom. For the transom you have to make sure you are far enough away from the motor to prevent interference. As I don't have the same boat as you, not sure on exact placement.. Might be worth checking with the walleye guy mentioned above... |

 | There is a composite block that somebody makes, that has the right angle for the Ranger setback. It mounts to the side, so it stays away from the motor. i'LL see if I can find out who has them.
OK, the guys name is Mike Meyer. Guess he works at Frankies Marine in MN. They have them in stcok. Either email [email protected] for pics or call Parts at 651-257-6334

 | You have to place the transducer on the very bottom of the pad, next to the drain plug. Rangers ride high on the pad and this is the only area that will provide a reading.
 Good luck, Murph
