Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Just wanted to say thank you from the Consolidated Musky Club Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids to all who helped make our two brat fry's at Wal-Mart a huge success. Everyone who helped, braved some pretty tough weather the past two sundays, and we appreciate it. I would also like to thank those who stopped to buy a brat or hamburger, and for those who went home and called friends and relatives to come support our cause. Another thanks goes to everyone who helped out and to members who came last night to our annual spring awards dinner. With our raffle sales(we gave away 3 St. Croix rods, a nice reel, and a club jacket in addition to over 100 lures with many of them nice customs from manufactures arouns WI) and brat fry sales, we have been able to generate almost $2,000 in the past few months to go directly towards feeding and stocking the Muskies we raise locally. We also plan to put netting over a few of our rearing ponds to curb predation from birds, and would like to thank the Wilderness Sportsmens Club in Vesper WI for donating the netting left over from some of their Pheasant pens. We are so lucky to have close to 100 members both local and from several counties away, who have an interest in keeping/improving our local fishery. If it were not for you, the local Musky anglers who help support us, we would not be able to keep stocking sections of the WI river, that do not get stocked currently by the DNR(our goal). As a small club, we are only able to raise and stock about 300 fish per year, but every little bit helps in my opinion. A thanks also goes out to Jerrys bait in Wisconsin Rapids, Timberline archery in WI Rapids, and Pat Wingos Captain Hook store in Lake Tomahawk. Also to Wal-Mart for matching funds at the brat fry's These businesses have agreed to sell raffle tickets for our club this year, and their help has not gone unnoticed. Another thanks to Pat Wingo for donating some of his Hellraiser lures to our club for prizes. If you are a member, or fish the Central WI area, please stop and thank these businesses for their help in supporting a small club like ours if you get the chance. If anyone from the central Wisconsin area, or anywhere for that matter, would like to join. Please email or PM me. The cost of membership is a whopping $5.00 per year, and we meet twice per year, in addition to having 2 outings, one in the Minoqua area in June and a one day on the WI river in September. All dues, and raffle sales, go directly towards feed for the fish we raise in the ponds. We hope to save enough to buy a couple hundred spotted Muskies from the MN Muskie farm either this year or for sure 2006, and are working on ideas for another fund raiser to assist in funding. Thanks again to everyone involved in helping our club acheive its goals. We really appreciate it!! Board members, Consolidated Musky Club Inc. Edited by Reef Hawg 5/4/2005 2:06 PM

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Oh, one more thing. My wife won two Smuttly Dog lures last night at our banquet. She was wondering what peoples thoughts were on these lures, as we've never seen them before. One is in the shape of an Amma Bamma or Striker type, and the other is like a 5" Reef Hawg size. Anyone have any luck with these?

Posts: 354 | Jason, I haven't had the chance to fish a smulty dog. I have heard good things about them from a couple different sources. Hey, I have a question for you. You mentioned in your post that you guys are stocking parts of the Wisc. River that the DNR isn't currently stocking. How did you guys go about doing that? In other words was it necessary for you to get approval from the DNR first? The reason I am wondering is because there is a local river in my area that some of us have been talking about stocking. This river originally had muskies at the turn of the century and were later fished out. I would love to have a local water with a similar type project. If you don't care to post on here shoot me an answer on the PM. Thanks a lot and good luck fishing this year. Bill C. aka the greenduck
