I was wondering if any of you guys could give me some advice about what lures/colors are working on Webster. Im taking my dad on his first muskie fishing trip and maybe the last. Hes almost lost all of his vision and it may be the last time we get to go out together. I really want him to have a good chance at catching these incredible fish. If there are any tips you guys could give me that would mean a lot to me. Thanks.

Dave, The hottest bait right now is a tippy river darter as you can see in the mouth of the musky in one of my pics. I would also try a dunwright dancer, magic maker, or a phantom. SS shad is also working right now. As far as color goes I would try all white, crappie or any shad pattern. Go fish the water that is 25 - 40 feet deep, find the big groups of shad out there and wait. The muskies will come when the get hungry. Good luck, Let me know how you do. Jeff King

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Dave, For big fish, Jeff is right on. Stay in 25-40 foot of water, and throw lures that will only get down in the first 4 feet of the water column. Beer Bellies, Turmoils, Phantoms, Tippy Darters and Hughes Rivers have done the best. Look for the bait fish, they will be high in the water column. For smaller fish, Rat-L-Traps, phantoms, spinner baits up in 1-5 foot of water will produce fish in the 30-36 inch range. Black and orange, crappie, shad, and chub have been the hot colors. Release 'em all!

Thanks a lot for your advice. You have any idea if the "ye old tackle box" off 13 sells any of those lures or did you get yours online? Also, don't worry I'm 100% catch and release.

Posts: 1086 | Great fish and great pix everyone. Like someone else already said...which I've said before as well, the only way we'll stop hurting any of these fish..is if we all stopped fishing for them altogether. We know that's not going to happen. Be smart, be quick, have the right gear, be educated and pass on the education...that's the best we can do. We don't all want to join PETA now do we? ![]()

I KILLED them on the Hellhound a few days ago. That bait is insane! Almost all fish came off the weed edges in the main basin...
