Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sue and I will be hitting the road again tomorrow for Bull Shoals Lake in Mountain Home, Akansas. We will search for big bluegills and crappies for fun, and might head out a day for stripers, too. Wednesday begins our coverage of the FLW Walleye event there. Pictures to follow!!

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Chapter Challenge went pretty well despite the horrible weather. There were folks from West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia, and Ohio that I'm aware of. Great food, and a very well run event. Not very many muskies caught, but with the weather we had that surprised no one. Well, 'What', were on our way. I have decided to dedicate this entire trip report to you, sir. Medic, we'll let you know what we find out about the 'gills!

Location: Athens, Ohio | Please drive careful, sir, my wishes for a safe and enjoyable journey.I got to trout fish on the White River in Ark. just right below Bull Shoals dam when I was a teen, still lives happily in my memories. (but, who cares!) You have some fantastic scenery waiting for you that's a fact. Thanks for the update on Green River, if you guys had half the wind we had up here Saturday it's suprising many boats stayed on the water. m

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Well, me made it no problems, and will hit the water tomorrow. Hope the crappies are going, thanks for the info!! 'What', The weather is fantastic, temps in the mid 70's. Mountain Home is a really cool community, and very friendly. The famous White River and it's World Class trout fishing is here, as are two of the best lakes in the south. All that's missing here are Muskies! There are, however, HUGE Stripers, some over 40#. May try those this week, too.

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Steve, Glad you're having a good time. If you get a chance pick up some literature on the place ya'all are staying at. I"m looking for a nice spring get-a-way place for Deb and I next year. I've heard that area is a nice place to visit. Be safe..

Posts: 389 Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | If its not a lot of trouble.............please scale and ship 35 or so of your finest palm size bluegills to Me in Presque Isle.A bottle of Lafitte Rothschild vintage 1958 would be nice also. Not sure if they sell that at those drive through liquor stores down there however.Absent your ability to follow through on my requests... just enjoy your trip.

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Well, we got out for awhile today, and finally found a few nice gills in 10" of water off a sloping gravel bluff. The crappie was on a brush pile shallow. The Rainbows were in 10' with the gills, and we missed a BUNCH of those fussy buggers. This is a great place to vacation, and a wonderful fishery. Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yesterday was rainy and cool, but we fished for a couple hours anyway. This lake is so full of Rainbows, it's amazing. Too bad Muskies are not present, they would be VERY happy campers. For perspective, the Crappie was 14". The FLW Walleye event here is showing some very tough fishing for the Pros, with only 23 teams weighing fish yesterday. Posts: 373 Location: Huber Heights, Ohio | You must attract "Rainbows", the sky type that is. Had one at Cave Run and now Bull Shoals, what happened at Green River?

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | David_4; Green River was a carbon copy of the weather at the Cave, except it was worse!! We're ready to finish up the FLW Walleye event here in Arkansas tomorrow with the final weigh in. Top prize will be $80000 in this event. The bite is TOUGH, making the final cut to ten teams very exciting. Take a look at www.walleyefirst.com for an interesting read if you fish walleyes at all. Sue and I made it out a couple hours in between the events here, and caught a few more fish. This is a great fishery! Attachments ---------------- IMAG0051.JPG (116KB - 154 downloads)
