Just got off a little secluded lake in Barron Cty. with a friend and his little kids. We went through a couple cans of waxy's in 1.5 hrs. Not much for size, but lots of action to keep the little tikes interested. Pretty fun for the first time going after gills, still liking chasing tip-ups better, lol.

Hey Jason,
I've been "lighting it up" on the bluegills and crappies the last couple times. I fish Northeast Wisconsin and we have around 8" of ice on most area lakes. The fish have been biting very light and will make you work, but by finessing and moving around the fish can be enticed to bite. A buddy and I managed to ice 40 gills and crappies today. Last weekend I managed to limit out on gills. This is the only time of the year that I'm able to catch fish that I can eat so I make the most out of it. Only problem is, I might get sick of eating fish.LOL

catch ya later,
Krappie

Thanks for the report.....I heard the ice is good for walking on Pewaukee.. Will get my daughter out there soon to rock some gills.

Was out 3 times in the last week. Once near Coloma with -0-results. 4 flags, no takers and 3 dinky perch. Very clear ice and water don't make a good combo. About 8 inches of ice. Could see the bottom, through the ice, in about 12 feet.

Tuesday afternoon out to the state park, no comment.

Was out on Wednesday during the warmup on a river backwater. Started with about 6 inches of ice and ended the day with near 4. Lots of water on top the ice at the end of the day. Only fishing for gills that day. Ended with 100+ total but only kept about 20 real good ones. We were throwing back some fish that I normally would've kept but we had a ball.

Have heard that in the Wisconsin Dells area it's been pretty good. Lot's of people doing good, no one doing excellent.

Jeff be careful out there. Heard they put a couple through during the warmup. Gotta watch the springs / river channel through there. If you're down in the area again, let me know, maybe we can hook up.
