Posts: 122 | The WMT is excited to announce that the 2005 Invitational Championship will be held on Lake Tomahawk(Big Tom) and Little Lake Tomahawk(Little Tom) in Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin on September 24 and 25. The Minocqua Chain, which includes Big and Little Tom, is a world class muskie fishery that produces big muskie every year. Last fishing season the chain surrendered a 57" giant that was estimated to be well over 50 pounds before it was immediately released back into the lake to give another angler the thrill of catching her. To go along with the chains reputation to produce trophies, it can also produce a high number of action fish, those muskie of 34" to 42 inches, for the muskie angler who puts their time in on the water. The top sixty four teams of the WMT's 2005 season, along with the reigning 2004 WMT Invitational Championship and the 2004 Lapp Trophy winners for capturing the team of the year honors, will compete for more than $150,000 in cash and prizes along with two Ranger Boats from Heckel's Marina. One Ranger Boat will be awarded to the Invitational Champions with the second Ranger Boat going to the Invitational qualifying team who gets their team number drawn at the end of the Championship. Also, at stake at the WMT's Invitational Championship for the tournament anglers is a chance to win the 50" pool that has been rolling over since it was started at the 2002's WMT Championship. The 50" pool could reach over $26,000.00 at the time of this years WMT Championship. Catching a 50" muskie is a big thrill for any angler, experienced or novice, and catching a 50" muskie in a muskie tournament is even a larger accomplishment but catching such a "big brute" while winning $26,000 or more will bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "a fish of a lifetime". The WMT is really looking forward to hosting the Invitational Championship on Big and Little Tom on the fourth weekend of September. It is perhaps one of the best times of the year to pursue the mighty muskie on the chain. Adding the two together, the WMT's Invitational Championship with the best time on the calendar to fish Big and Little Tom, is going to add up to a whole lot of fun for the tournament anglers with some fast and furious muskie action! Pat Wingo, owner of Captain Hooks Bait and Tackle Shop and the maker of Hellraiser Tackle, lobbied hard to get the WMT to host the Invitational Championship on Big Tom and Little Tom. He stated that "it was a great venue to showcase just how good of a muskie fishery they had their in Lake Tomahawk". Pat went on to say "even though it is a popular muskie chain, there is so much structure and cover options, and water for the muskie angler to fish, it will make a WMT Invitational Championship to remember for years to come". Along with having a chance to win TWO Ranger boats, tens of thousands of dollars in cash and the 50" pool at the Invitational Championship, the qualifying anglers will all be presented with their custom embroidered 2005 WMT Invitational Championship hats from G.Loomis Rods and shirts from Captain Hooks Bait and Tackle Shop located in Lake Tomahawk. In addition, Hellraiser Tackle Company will present the Invitational competitors with a special edition WMT Invitational muskie lure with a fluorocarbon leader. While at the Championship awards presentation, the three top anglers who caught the largest muskie of the 2005 season will be the recipients of a certificate for a free graphite reproduction of their muskie from Joe Fittante Taxidermy out of Antigo, Wisconsin. Joe's artistry in capturing the true look of muskie in his graphite reproductions has helped to increase the popularity of "catch and release" in muskie fishing which in turn has improved the muskie fishery throughout the United States and Canada. At all of the WMT's qualifying events, not to mention the WMT's Invitational Championship, the WMT has hundreds of door prizes for our tournament anglers such as: G.Loomis Rods, Frabil Nets, SpeedTech's "Anglers Edge Plus", with thousands of lures from: Figure 8 Lures, Grandma Baits, Luhr-Jensen, TNT Tackle Co., Wood on the Water, Muskie Mania Tackle, Drifter Tackle, Joe Bucher Tackle made by Roberts Outdoors, Inc., Worden Lures & Yakima Baits, Suick, www.Mudpuppylures.com , Phantom Lures, Hellraiser Tackle, Super Slayer Tackle Co., Musky Buster Lures, Duke Snap Co., Musky Innovations, Nimmer Swimmer Muskie Lures, KDC Lures, Ducktail Lures, Skimmer Lures, Cat's Tails, Triple Fish's Bully Braid Muskie Line, Mepps, and Catch 32 Guide Service.
