Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | The Black River itself has some muskies in it, and the lake that the Black runs through near Hatfield, Arbutus, is somewhat of a sleeper. The Potters Flowage down 54 to the east has a good population of fish and a few nice ones, and Mead Lake to the north has a fishable pop. and some decent ones. You will be an hour from Petenwell with a fishable population, and an hour the other way to hit some waters near Eau Claire. Edited by Reef Hawg 4/4/2005 3:52 PM

Although I've only fished Arbutus once, I did have a nice fish on up at the Northwest end where the black river comes in, watch out for the rocks. Talked to a few local folks & there is the rumor of "Nessie" crusing the water, & scaring the bejesus outta the walleye guy's. Have fun, Al Attachments ---------------- 1727700b.gif (148KB - 235 downloads) 1727700c.gif (132KB - 217 downloads) 1727700a.gif (132KB - 213 downloads)

| Ive caught a few at the Perry Creek park area on the Black River which is South of Black River Falls a few miles down stream. Not a good stretch of water to fish unless you use a smaller boat such as a 14footer. Lake Arbutus is a beautiful clean Lake but doesnt really contain a fishable population since the dam went out in '93. As stated before, I would fish the river entrance to this lake but the rocks are everywere, be careful. As Reef Hawg said, Potters Flowage off Hwy. 54 has a fishable population, nothing too big but they are in there. Mead would be the best shot, North of Neillsville. Best of luck, Steve | |||
