Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | What is the best superline for the buck? I use 50 to 80#, and found several brands that worked very well for me. I'm curious what you think is the BEST for the dollar. What brands can be bought in bulk and as a result save a few dollars for the gas tank? |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I've been using 80# Spiderwire Stealth. I got it at the Berkley outlet store for $3/spool (end mills - not a full 150 yds., but close)
I figured for that price, I would definately give it a try. So far I like it ok, it begins to fray after a few days of casting, but I just cut off a few feet and re-tie. Doesn't hold a ton of water and casts real nice. It definately gets my vote for the $$ - granted, if you can get it that way! (even retail it's pretty cheap compared to others though)

| Hey steve, I use tuff line plus and xp. I use mostly 80, but on my smaller reels i like the 65lb tuff plus over 50lb super braids just for the added piece of mind |

| I had 80 Tuf-Line and loved it, then I tried the 80 Tuf-Plus. Well, they're going to stop producing the Tuf-Plus after this year, so I ordered 2 bulk spools of it. Send me a reel and I'll load it up for you and you can give it a try. I love it. It's not wiry. It doesn't change colors, and it casts like a dream without holding water. It figures that they make something that I love, and then they decide to discontinue it.
Tuf-Plus....my favorite. Followed by Tuf Line.

| I have used PowerPro for yrs on chinook and steelhead with good luck. I have also tried Tuff-Line and liked it too but it does have the tendency to seperate at times. I think the Tuff Line Plus Beav fell out of liking with alot of anglers after several lines tests showed it didn't hold up as well as others...regular Tuff Line held up very well in these same tests. It seems several companies out there are now trying their best to make something similar to the PowerPro....Tuffline XP and the new Spiderwires for example.
Can't imagine going away from super lines now but there is some things that drive me nuts about them. One is the way it clings to everthing! If you have ever tried to walk a brushy bank with a rod strung with PowerPro you know what I am talking about....hit a twig and it won't let go! Also it always seems to want to wrap around the tip of the rod, with mono you simply give the rod a flip, not so with superlines. Finally don't get two plugs wrapped up with the stuff while trolling, if you do get ready to cut everything!

Location: oswego, il | I use power pro in 50-100lb depending on the reel. It has been good as long as i stick to my way of spooling it on. I tried the stren superbraid last season and liked it too. I was hoping since it had more weaves that it would be dryer but was the same as PP. |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I have been very happy with Cortland Spectron black spot and green spot over the years. I tried some of the first Tuff XP (it was tan but was a mistake on their part) and I loved it. I've bought every spool I can find that are still in tackle shops. Same stuff as the green suposedly, but it seems to shed water better and lays really nice in the spool and cold water/ice performance is awesome. I've got enough of it now to last next 5-10 years so I don't care if they bring it back.
Cortland is available in bulk spool, I'm sure the others are too. |

Location: north central wisconsin | tuff Line XP in 80 for sure!! I use the 65 for twitching and some smaller jerk applications. I used to use PP but since switching to the XP, have been much happier. Much easier on the line guides, cheaper and seems to last as long if not longer. It does hold a bit of water as many lines do, but no big whoop. i also like the Stren power braid, but it is a bit overpriced in my opinion. I also like the spectron, but have a hard time getting a fair price on it at the stores I shop as well. |

Location: Michigan | I used Stren super braid this past season and was not pleased, Maybe I got a bad batch(spool) but it turned a light powder blue color after about two days of use and seemed to be frayed everywhere! Going back to 80#PowerPro. I am not "thrifty" when it comes to line(or just about anything else muskie tackle wise.) My father uses Fireline for Pike and Muskie and is happy with it. |

| I also used a stren braided line last season and hated it. It dug into itself many times on the spool and I lost several bucktails on snap offs. Good thing topwaters and jakes float or I would have lost a couple of those too.
I have had enough and I am gonna cough up the money for the 80# power pro this season. |

I even use it in small test like 20 pound (6 lb mono diameter) or 30 lb (8 lb diameter) For small stream fishing I run a mono or floro leader. I'm getting good at gettinig a light lure to go a fair ways on this thin stuff. |

| Steve,I'm in the same boat as Beav. I can't tell how many times I find a product that I really like and they discontinue it for some reason. As far asline goes,Power Pro 65 for tails and small cranks,80 for bigger stuff and 100 for jerks. Go to E-bay and buy it there from Harlee Rod. You can get 1500 yard spools for 20 to 30 bucks cheaper than buying it from Cabela's or some other store. Kurt |

| 80# Tuf Line XP's a good line that's a little like PP but less money. I also use a lot of Cortland Musky Master Dacron, which is very inexpensive. One fluke day two Octobers ago we trolled up 18 and 35# anchors off the bottom of Georgian Bay wih the XP. They were wedged in badly (that's likley why their owners cut them loose) and we used the kicker to pull them free with our fishing line, after wrapping it around my forearm. Two anchors miles apart on the same day was a big fluke, kind of over shadowed the fact that we deadlifted them off bottom with that line without failure. I put the Musky Master away by the end of October, it holds way too much water for cold weather fishing for my liking. |

| Can't beat 80 pound stealth. Cast great and doesn't hold much water. Amazing for speed trolling. Dose not cut as easy on the rocks like power pro will.
