Posts: 1938 Location: Black Creek, WI | It may be a little early, but I'm curious how the new Super Freak from Musky Innovations compares to the old standby Hawg Wobbler from Mouldy tackle. Anyone out there tried the new super freak yet? If so... can you describe its action? Thanks. jlong

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | One thing I love about my hawg wobblers is the chatter created by the rear spinner. Great bubble trail too. I use mostly customs now, and put larger blades on the back for more commotion. Does the freak have one? Could one be added? Not even sure if the fish can hear it(I'm guessing so), but it is a confidence thing.

Posts: 20260 Location: oswego, il | I think the spuerfreak runs a bit faster than does the hawg wobbler, not sure if that is a good comparison or not. Now "da rat" by H20 tackle is a good comparison to it. Da Rat makes a big wake and alot of noise at a hawg wobbler's pace.

I have 2 of them and have tested them in my pool. The super freak has an awesome side to side swim that really makes a wake. Also it runs about the same speed as the hawg wobbler. I think this lure will work awesome this year. Can't Wait! They play a new musky innovations commercial of it in action on saturday mornings, usually during the North Country show if you are wondering.

Can be worked faster than a wobbler and the Rattle Hawg can be cranked under water without washing out for figure 8 or if you have one following that won't commit. www.hawgseekers.com

Posts: 354 | Hard core hawg wobbler lover here. Not even afraid to say such things in public. I'm skeptical of the super freak. Jason's observation about the rear spinning blade is a good point. The hawg wobbler also makes a nice hard clacking sound which I'm not sure the freak will duplicate. I've gone so far this winter as to applying miniwax wood hardner to my HW joint. Testing them in the river the other day showed that they now have that original new sound. The wood in the joint goes soft after a while and your HW loeses some its original sound. I really prefer the husky size wobblers. They are really loud. I don't like the largest size magnums as the somewhat oversized front blade seems to impede the action. They don't sound nearly as good as the huskies. Bill C.

Love the Hawg Wobbler and especially the Magnum Hawg Wobbler. The Super Freak looks like a great bait in the pool, so I will have to give it a try this year. I want to compare it to the Shallow Invader which has been a great bait for me! ![]()
